GSXR600 / Ninja636 - online TD quote for $726/yr?

Insurance for sportbikes is outrageous in Ontario, but since I turned 40 earlier this year I thought I would check out TD's insurance rates on the 600cc bikes for an "mature" guy like me.

Well needless to say I was pretty shocked when TD came back with a quote of $726 on their website. They do have a condition about having proof of an alarm installed before converting the quote into a policy, but still this seems exceptionally low.

Here are the deductibles/coverages for a 2007 GSXR600 to get the $726/yr (taxes included):
Ride and Drive: no
Liability: $1,000,000
Collision Ded: $1,000
Comprehensive Ded: $1,000
All Perils: not included
Accident Forgiveness: no
Family Protection: included
Prop Damage: no deductible
Accident Benefits: included
Uninsured Motorists: included
Fire Deductible: included

I should mention that I've been riding for 6 years, insured for 3. No accidents or tickets.

This seems really low considering other companies quote at $2500. Am I missing something?
Does TD have a low first year rate, then bring the hammer down after that?
Has anyone experienced a significant difference between an online and phone quote?

Just in shock...

Big difference compared to the "GSX R 600 - TD's laughable quote" post lol.

I guess it's because of the combination of your age and clean record. [h=2][/h]

Never trust the online quoting system. Just pick up the phone and give them a call; especially if you're using it to choose a new bike to buy. It would suck to get an online quote of 726, and then buy the bike and call to get a quote of 2k+

Im with TD and that is the price I pay. Im younger than you so Im not sure where you got quotes of $2500.
I was with state farm and was paying $1100
Before.

If the information you provide is true they have to stand by the quote they gave you for at least 30days. TD will send you an email with the quote and state that it is good for 30days

Good to hear that there are others with reasonable insurance rates! I hope companies like TD don't start blacklisting sportbikes like Jevco (where I got a crazy high quote from) does. It seems like manufacturers would also be interested in keeping insurance reasonable to sell bikes...

Once I'm ready to purchase a bike I'm going to do the online quote, then call and confirm, and make sure it won't suddenly be jacked up the next year.

Anyone have TD jack their rates up after a year or so of coverage?

TD-MM gave me the exact quote online for what I'm paying now. Btw, you only need an alarm for 2-way insurance with TD.

31 Year old male (in London though) - smashed a car up but it was 10 years ago now, no tickets in the last 7 years. Riding for 4 years.
Brand new 2011 R6, full coverage, 1250ish a year. Pretty happy with that. TD as well.

Wow.. That's really low. Might have to get a quote from TD. When I tried them a couple years ago they were much more!

Just noticed you don't have all perils selected and deductible is $1000. I usually try to get a $500 deductible.

My original quote with TD was also that low but when I actually went to insure the bike the came back saying "oh, that's a different model" and a quote that was about $500 year more. After a bit of discussion about there being only one Triumph 675 Daytona they determined that I qualified for an Affinity Discount (seems my former University has a program with them) and the price was dropped back to the original quote. I'm paying low $700 for a 2008 Daytona with full coverage. $500 deductible. I've also added my home/cage to the policy and was able to get a $3 Million liability coverage applied to all three for about $25 a year. Not bad considering most companies won't give more than $1 Million liability.

So... you've learned two things. 1) Getting older isn't all that bad and 2) TD puts a lot more emphasis on the age/experience of the rider.

If u get it for that price take it and run

Sent from my tablet using my paws

Just got my renewal from SF, $1050 for an 08 CBR 1kRR, liability + comp, late 20's, clean record, so the quote seems on par.
