gsxr operating temp?

hi,

just bought a 04 gsxr 750 and was wondering what's the normal operating temperature? it's averaging 210 degrees Fahrenheit (US model...anyone know if or how to change the temp gauge to celsius?).

212 f is the boiling point equal to 100 c todays temp is normal providing you not sitting in traffic. the bike needs forward movement for fresh air to pass through the cooler, cross winds dont help because of the fairings. the fan usually cuts in at 105-107 c just above boiling.

This kind of question is common with newer bikes. I really wish modern digital dashboards did not display the temperature in degrees. I guarantee the sender is not that accurate to begin with, and it's not immediately apparent if it's normal operation or if it's overheating. Bring back the sweep style gauges, or at least do it bar graph style.

It should be apparent when the readout starts flashing, as it does on most newer bikes...

Right, but if you've never read the owner's manual (if you even got it with the bike), and you've never seen it flash, you wouldn't know it's going to do that.

I have an 07 gsx-r1000 and I cruise all day long at 74 - 78 degrees c.

your talking about street legal race bikes that dont sit well in bumper to bumper they need fresh air through their rads.
