Does anyone know the differences between the early 2000s carbureted 750 GSXF and the carbureted 750 GSXR?
I've heard a several random people say it's only the jets and exhaust, but I can't find confirmation, or otherwise, online.

I know there are many differences in suspension and frame/body, but my curiosity is with engine performance.

GSX-R750 was fuel injected 1998 onwards, and watercooled from 1992. If you're talking about the air-cooled GSX-R750 that ended in 1991...

Good question! I used to know what did and didn't make it over to the Katana/Bandit engines, but that knowledge seems to have evaporated. Will mull it over and see if it comes back

Thanks for the info. I didn't think they were that much different.
So now I wonder, is the Katana 750 a completely different design, or did they put the old '91 engine in the Katana? Either way, not gonna tap any of that GSXR power out of the 750 Katana. That's good information.

It is definitely the same engine. IIRC it actually got some mechanical improvements, though it was configured to make less peak horsepower. And all things considered, it is an extremely solid motor - Suzuki just about perfected the air-cooled inline 4

One more important bit of context - the GSX750F actually gets its start in 1988. When it was introduced, the engine was absolutely current technology. The facelift in 1998 made improvements, but it wasn't that different.

gsx had heli cut crank and clutch gears, smaller intake and carbs, longer 5sp transmission ratio. at least in the oil cooled 1100. I had both

I think 1988-89 GSXR was short stroke katana was long stroke. My 1990 750 had the 771 kit jetting and a pipe 113 hp on a dyno run When it was fresh. Nice comfy reliable bikes. Seen a few over the 100 k mark but gen 2 kata electric odometer stopped at 999,999 for some stupid reason.
