Group street ride compilations

Started riding with a group a while ago and am finally getting some use out of my gopro. Had a lot of fun making these videos but would love some feedback..... I can only review them so many times before every scene begins to look the same to me. Would like some criticism for when I make the next one. There's always some way to improve; just need someone to point it out.

Latest compilation:

Driving The wrong way around a traffic island is asking for trouble...

Wheelies, going 170+, driving wrong side of the road and then uploading to youtube with your real name.

Winning! :lmao:

looks like you need a GPS more than anything :)

Yup. Find a different group to ride with.

Heard it's bad to do wheelies on SVs...something to do with fuel leaking into the engine or something like that

Haha, this is funny. Let me clear the air.
Please don't interpret small movie snipets from 40h+ of riding as continous everyday events.....my videos would look far different if that were the case.

There was construction further down that street, we weren't the only ones doing u-turns.
Edit: oh yea. That was part of a larger group. No good excuse for that except after assessing the area it seemed like fun that wouldn't hurt anyone else. GoPros have a bad way of representing what you actually see by skewing it, but objects aren't as close as they appear (e.g. looks like passing some cars too tightly) and since my eyes are higher than the mount I have a better perspective.

The speeding is either down dead-end country roads without any sideroads (1/4 to 1/2 mile stretches) or down a road which we've already checked. I wouldn't risk doing it in a hazardous area that I haven't inspected first... not worth it. The highway part was a second lap as well, but just a blip. I'm not a speed deamon but if I want a quick taste I'd rather do it for a moment on the highway then in the country or city... it's an SV650 with higher gearing, the bike is for comuting not speeding. Please don't interpret what you see in the clips as something that happens 24/7.

Lol, you might be right, but I'll admit exploring and getting lost is still a joy in itself.

Yup. Find a different group to ride with.

Unfortunately the other groups in the area are well, less tolerant of the 'types' of people they're willing to join. Glad to find a group that has enough variety I can grow with and won't be judged. I'll ride with whomever I can teach me something.

Quit trying to keep up.

And stop learning? Never :) I realize that after traveling so much Ontario is uniquely very reserved and the people seem sheltered (I feel like you can buy insurance for almost anything and fewer people are willing to try things for themselves or self-teach) but as long as I'm respectful of others on the road and respectful of police every time I encounter them, I'll keep pushing my comfort zone.
The video isn't meant to display an accurate representation of mine or others riding habits, I'd post unedited 4h clips if that were the case instead of selectively choosing clips that I know others would react to. Glad to see it's working though :)

Would you post a Google maps link to that bridge please?

It's mostly a single lane road, google map avoids it but its a nice strip of scenery. Just east of Port Stanley: Pleasnt Valley Road.

If you appreciate hidden scenery and you're near Port Stanley, you'll also appreciate Roberts/Sparta Line just north of Port Stanley.

Haha, didn't do any wheelies myself, I've heard about oil starving on the SV.... but I can see how if you didn't watch the surrounding (in that clip) you can interpret that. Just tucking down and coming back up quick as a I pass a buddy. My speed would have picked up a lot quicker if it was a wheelie. A few threads in the traffic ticket and stunt section of this forum provide more than enough reason not to stunt on the street. I've practiced emergency braking, quick maneuvering, and wheelies, but only in closed parking lots but only after asking security for permission.

I can understand why it's so easy to pass judgement after watching the videos, but it's meant to elicit a reaction. I have this flexibility when I remove a lot of the context from clips and only show you selections. I'm a commuter, love to work on my own bike, and test it in different ways to develop a better understanding. Not to mention not all of the clips are mine. I ride for fun, not to give a bad name. I don't think a video of me getting people get out of ditches, changing tires on the side of the road, giving neighborhood kids rides, or just helping out would be as 'exciting'

Trainingwheels, thanks for the great response to everyones msgs. Appreciate the mature discussion and posting of the maps. Might have to visit that area one day.

Thank you for the map! Enjoy the long weekend!

It looks like you found something interesting in an area almost filled with land divided up into nice neat rectangles.

Regarding the wrong-way around a traffic island, etc ... One thing about the internet is that it's far too easy for things to be taken out of context. If something looks questionable or illegal, it's best not to do it. Failing that, it's best not to record and document it. Failing that, it's best not to post it up on the internet for others to criticize (and for the police to act on, if someone reports it ... which HAS happened). If you are going to post something of questionable legality, make sure it's as difficult as possible to identify that the event happened at all (don't have the speedo in the video frame ... or, creatively use a SpeedoHealer!), where it happened, when it happened, and who did it (no license plates, no faces, no unique identifying markings).

Private property is a good thing ... look at most of the videos that the stunters post up (of them riding in parking lots, not on public roads). Track day videos ... no problem. Dragstrip videos ... no problem.

I know that it sucks that we have to pay attention to such things, but welcome to the modern world. Don't post something on facebook that you wouldn't be willing to shout out in public in the public square in front of the police station. Same thing with youtube.

Quite the twist ending from what I had expected. Regardless, this is still constructive feedback.
Didn't realize others on this site had been reported (other than that kid who has a dedicated RFDs thread for treating city traffic like a video game); but like you [Brian P] suggested, it shouldn't take much to implement precautions.

This could have been worse. Glad everyone here had been exposed to worse already

Nice to see someone else from the london area let alone knowing the sparta and roberts line. I'll have to try pleasant valley this weekend though. Are these rides mostly weekends or weeknights?

There is always a weekend ride and typically 1-2 randomly during the week depending on when people are available.

I'm leading a ~2.5h ride around London this weekend if you'd like to come out with a small group of us. I'll PM you the details.

ppl thought i got a new bike and posted videos... or my account got hacked... LoL.. nice name

Lol yea... about that. It's my user name on a few other forums so thought I'd just go with it. Although before signing up a google search of this site did show your name come up a few times so I knew it was inevitable before you found Waldo.

If people got confused and thought you 'upgraded' your bike I'm more than open to the idea of a trade :p
