GPS Issue

Lately, after a Garmin update, my GPS will no longer do voice command - Find address.
This used to work, and was good for when you'd already started driving.
Now when I try it, it says "This feature is not available for Canada in American/British English."
There is no Canadian English, and I don't know if I'd understand Australian English.
Now you have to pull over in a safe location to input the address manually.
If it didn't have this feature when I bought it, I wouldn't have.
I tried the Garmin support chat, but it hangs while "Retrieving Config", so I'll have to phone, which I hate.

Anyone have a fix or a workaround?

My last update wiped out western North America. No clue how to retrieve.

Mine (TomTom) would force me to remove something before it would update. Seems that every update takes more and more space and I would have to selectively remove things (fun voices, Central America maps etc) until there was room for the update.

Perhaps Garmin decides on its own?

Good to know. I just did the free update and local stuff is fine. I'll plan a trip to visit cousins out west and see if western Canada has seceded.

Hard reset and wait until they fix the issue to upgrade?

Which model?

The problem might be missing voice recognition files or incomplete region maps. This might be related to space issues during the update. How much free space do you have on the device/SD card? If you're close to full, I suggest finding a larger SD card and reloading all maps and updating from this.

DriveAssist 50. It's about 80% full. The SD card stores videos, as it's also a dashcam. I sent them an email. I'll update when they get back to me.

This is the answer I received today, I'll have to check the GPS and see if I have/can get the full map onto the GPS or put it on the card somewhere.

"In order to use Voice Command the entire map must be installed on the GPS/SD card. If you only have a region of mapping your GPS you will receive the error message. You will need an SD card between 8 GB up to 32 GB to get the full map on the GPS. Please click on the links below for troubleshooting."
