I did my M test (or M2 exit) at Brampton Drivetest Centre on Tuesday. Wasn't my first pick but it was a last minute decision to do the test this year and Brampton was the only drivetest centre with spots left.
Things did not go according to plan at all. I checked the weathernetwork Sunday afternoon just to find out that it was going to rain 20mm across GTA. I do not enjoy riding in the rain, so I did not want to carry out the test in the rain. So I called up Drivetest centre general line to reschedule, but they told me that they will need to charge me $75 again (already paid $75 for booking the test) for rescheduling because it was within 48 hours of my test date. When I told them about the weather condition they said Brampton Drivetest will call me to reschedule on the day of the test.
Tuesday morning was cold and wet. The rain was pouring down with very low visibility (I drove to work in the morning). at 8:30am I decided to be proactive and call them first, I called the general line again and got the same answer that brampton Drivetest will call me. No phone call at 9:00am, so I called brampton Drivetest centre and left a voice msg addressing my concern. I called them 5x leaving msgs request a call back so I'll know what to do, by 12:00 noon still nothing. The rain was still coming down hard.
I made a decision by 12:30pm that I won't just hand over the $75 (booking fee), so I went home (stouffville)and got the bike. Lucky for me, the rain got much lighter on the way there, I was riding very cautiously so no slips at all. when I got to the centre I was angry to see that the front desk woman sitting there, bored, reading a newspaper, the room was half full with no line ups, only people sitting and waiting for G1, G2 or G test. She was so lazy that she does not have the common courtesy to listen to the messages and return a few phone calls.
Anyways, the rain continued but the test went on without a hitch. The hardest part was actually getting that cheapo ear piece into my helmet, it was pushed againest my ear, cutting into my skin the whole time. I read a few comments from other threads that the instructions were hard to hear. I did not have that issue, it was loud and clear. I want to thank whoever made the youtube video for the brampton M test, saw it the night before and it was extremly helpful.
This thread is not for me to rant, but to share my experience with anyone who may encounter similar situation. I don't believe any drivetest centres will cancel motorcycle tests unless for heavy down pour or severe thunder/lighting. for anyone who's going to do their M2 or M, make sure you check the weather and reschedule minimum 48 hours ahead or be prepared to adjust to the road conditions according to weather.
cheers
