Got my first bike

Hey guys and gals, picked up my bike from Cycle World (07 Suzuki GS500F) at 10:30am and didn't get back home until 4pm LOL had a friggin blast on it. Someone here said don't over think it and just do it and all week i thought it out and just went for it. Leaving the lot took about 10 mins it felt like, waiting for the coast to be clear and eased it onto Shephard for MY first time ever. Went up Mc Cowan to Steeles and Steeles kinda didn't feel right to me so i went up Warden to highway 7 and took it all the way to Mississauga, all i can say was this is freaking awesome.

Got home and relaxed for about 1 hour and went out again and drove down the lakeshore past The burrito boys and glanced over but no one there yet then went for a leisurely ride west on Lakeshore to Oakville and up to Brittania rd and back home to streetsville. Just Freaking awesome.

Saw so many bikes out also and everyone was giving the brotherly love as we all passed each other. Man this is awesome.

Well be safe out there guys and keep the rubber down.

I was looking at those 500GF's at cycle world for a month but decided to stay on what i have for now. Pls. give me more detail on how does it ride. i.e on the highway. I still plan to move that way in the future.

i was doing the same thing. I think i started looking at them in January and was always set on buying one when i passed my M1 exit. The day came to buy it and when i got there another one just was traded in and it looked beter than the rest so i was sold on it.

And to answer your question i don't have any experience on other bikes to compare but for me this bike is just perfect as my starter. Haven't been on the highway yet myself but everyone that i have talked to say it does fine on the highway. I'm thrilled with this bike.

Pictures or it didn't happened.. lol

How was the process to buying the bike at Cycle World? I was looking at those 500F and deciding if I should buy it there or not. Did you have to pay HST? Were you able to negotiate the retail price down?

Any info would be greatly appreciated. :)

I can't compare it to any other bike because the GS500F is my first street legal bike. But with stock sprockets the bike handles fine on the highway. It can keep up with traffic in 6th gear with low RPM (for example: 100km/hr is 6th gear is about 5000 RPM, 120ish is bout 6000 RPM and the bike redline begins at 11000) and the bike doesn't start to vibrate badly until you hit about 6500-7000 RPM so it's still a pretty smooth ride.
It also has enough power to overtake when needed. You may need to downshift to get a bit more power if you're at 5000RPM, but above 6000 and you should be able to just roll on and pass with ease.

The process was very easy and everyone there is pretty cool to talk with and i didn't feel uneasy at all. I did pay HST and i the price was negotiated and also got 100 bucks toward a new helmet

Thanks for the info.

I'm actually looking into a helmet now but seeing that they gave you 100 bucks towards a new helmet, maybe I should look into getting a bike first then...haha.

Nice Bike !!, very clean.

Ride Safe
