Got first bike! Needs paint...

Hi Everyone,
Just got my first bike on Saturday - CBR500RA. I only have my M1 and doing the RTI course next weekend (June 15-16). Not getting on my bike until after that; don't want to lay it down right off the bat. Also got full protective gear which I will be sweating my butt off in for a while.

I love how it looks, but feel that it could be better. Right now it's just the stock black. I would like to get some custom vinyl put on it to preserve the original paint job. Anyone know of any places that do that? And how much would I be looking at approximately? I'm looking to match it to my helmet.

Otherwise, I'm super excited to start riding.

EDIT: I think I posted in the wrong section...oops. Sorry.

I figured if I ever want to resell the bike, I could just take the vinyls off. As for enjoying the original paint job, it's just black - which is fine - but I would like to personalize it and make it my own, you know what I mean? I'm not confident enough yet to change anything that's not superficial.

Dude, your bike looks great as it is. If you want to change it, then by all means, do your thing.

Who did you buy the bike for, You or the next guy? It's your bike, do what you want to with it. Enjoy it and make it your own.

Thanks guys.

I'm looking for airbrush places now because to print custom vinyls will cost me an arm and a leg.

Anyone know of any good ones? Would car places also do bikes?

How much is an "arm and a leg".
Airbrushing is very time consuming.
I have a friend in Stratford who does amazing airbrush work.
He quoted me about $2,500 to do the tins on my Virago which I thought was quite reasonable.

It's your first bike. Keep it raw and enjoy it! Don't dump money into your first bike unless you plan on keeping it forever and handing it off to your children.

Wait until you drop it (everybody does) then decide whether to paint. A few scratches on a black fairing aren't a big deal to fix, scratches in the middle of your custom airbrushed fairing are a big deal to fix.

I got an airbrush quote of $1500-$2000, but I'm looking into vinyl now. Waiting to hear back from a place in Barrie.

Thanks for the input guys, its much appreciated.

Maybe grab a set of aftermarket fairing kit? Also, you will have the original fairing as spare parts.

That did cross my mind. I'll look into it once I know how much the vinyl will cost me. Might not end up doing anything fancy and keep it stock for a while.
