Got caught 2up without helmet

My friend was downtown tonight. He asked a girl for an address and she told him the way but wanted him to take her to the end of the street........Apparently a cop was there....He stopped them, gave the girl a ticket and gave the guy a caution. He wrote down his info but never gave him anything and just told him not to do this again. He sped off right away. I was wondering what would the ticket be like.....for the girl and how does it work?Should he have gotten a ticket as well. Also what does a caution do in legal terms if anything.

If she's an adult, she gets a ticket the same way an adult passenger in a car gets a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt while the driver would get nothing. A caution sounds the same as a warning, but I could be wrong.

THIS.

But your friend is still a real winner for allowing a passenger to get on his bike without a helmet.. While I don't believe he could be charged with anything for allowing her to ride without one.. I would LOVE to see the civil suit brought on by her family if something would have happened and she cracked her skull..

PM me your "friends" licence plate number,,, I will find out from his insurance company if they are "ok " with this..

How much was the ticket? That was probably the most expensive directions she ever gave.

I'm doubting it was Freak. He always has a 2nd helmet strapped to his bike. At least, every time I've seen him.

Watch it guys, we got a snitch right here, I'll remember your nickname so I will never ride with you in a group ride.

Heheh I love "my friend" posts

I see your point :p, Essentially I tried looking up the matter on Google and couldn't find anything which is why I thought i should consult the experts :). BTW it was a lady driver on the scooter(200-250cc).

The cop might have retained the information so that he can write out a 'contact card.' I'm unaware if they have a system that records people stopped, who have not been issued a ticket. It's possible though.

The girl got a $110.00 ticket.

She told me he was writing bike and license info on a card but he never gave her anything except for a caution. She thought it was a ticket :p

I have been stopped and not issued a ticket...the cop told me I was in the "system".

I have also had a single vehicle accident in the states where the cop showed up. He did not write a citation, or a motor vehicle accident report...instead he wrote up a "citizen assist" report.

I would be pretty surprised if they dont have a system to record these types of interactions.

I'm pretty sure its the same as a seat belt ticket... you can get it if you don't do up your helmet as well.

They certainly do. It's called a 'contact card', as I mentioned previously. What I'm unsure of is if they have a database immediately available to them, of things like warnings given.

Funny, last night downtown I saw a guy riding in a group with his helmet around his head. ie. He was wearing it but just sitting on top of his head, the bottom of the helmet was around his ears and front around his forehead area haha.

Yes Rob, correct. Its a "208". Information can be put in quickly by using a drop down menu for a generic stop and warn. Its available in real time 5 min later once entered for example. The entire history including cautions is on there.
