Got a great quote for bike insurance.....

I just got off the phone with my new car and house insurance agency, and asked them if they also do motorcycles. The guy said yes, and after giving him the info about my 1982 Yamaha Vision, I got a quote for a total of $419/year. Coverage is for $2M liability, no fault coverage, and any thing else that the province of Ontario requires as minimum coverage.

This premium beats my current coverage of $566/year with JEVCO.

The new quote is with DESJARDIN Insurance.

So if any other Canadian riders are up for getting a quote feel free to call them and see what you get.

I wonder if they insure bikes older than 1981. I couldn't get my 1980 bike insured with anyone but jevco & one other... I think statefarm? Still, I only pay $560 which is not bad.

Desjardins is hard to deal with, if something happens they hardly pay out.

Isn't that most of them? That's my experience with BelairDirect (who were awesome otherwise) and Wawanesa. Wawanesa had way bitchier employees than BelairDirect, though, and won't even pretend to want to help you out. Belair helps lots, just low ball you on their offers.

Not sure about bike insurance, but for car insurance, it's fairly easy to deal with State Farm and Meloche Monnex (personal experience), with State Farm a bit better than MM.

Car got rear-ended recently and I wasn't driving. I was out in the boonies camping at the time. I only made 2 short phone calls and everything was sorted out and fully paid for. I was never given the bill for anything, or harassed. They just sent an adjuster to the garage and paid in full for the repairs with no deductible.

Belair direct is good....I've been with them for 7 years now....no problems....crashed my first love head on with another car....all my fault and all...both vehicles written off. They gave me no heck...just straight calm business like....problems were all fixed that same night

Same experience with statefarm for me when I got hit on my bike. Aside from the adjuster taking just over a week to check my bike everything else went smooth and fast.

I called and was told they insure bikes back to 1970.

might have to call them and see if they'll give me a good rate on the SV since Jevco's changed hands now.
