Hey guys, Im about to purchase my first helmet cam, just wondering what you guys think about the hero3+ black edition vs silver edition.

Is the extra $100 for the black edition really worth it?

The black has the remote so there's $100 right there. I myself haven't use the remote yet since I use my phone to control the camera anyways. The only other difference is you can record 4k at 15 fps and 2.7k at 30? But unless you have a monitor that can display those resolution it's a useless feature anyways. That being said, I'm loving my black edition (got a good deal on it) :D.

Edit: just realized that you're inquiring about the hero3+. Should be the same features except their advertised "30%better longer smaller...."lol
 
I would suggest the GoPro Hero 3 Black edition (not the new to clarify).

GoPro Hero3+ Black is slightly better compared to the GoPro Hero 3 Black. The key features that really stays out I believe are the following:

1) Films better at Low Light
2) New Setting: Film at 960@60fps.
3) Better battery life*

I haven't seen videos shot with GoPro Hero3+ Black under low light yet, so I can't comment on that really.

GPH3 can do everything except for those minor new features in the GPH3+.

Don't forget: You will also need a microSD card Class 10 with to use with the camera if you don't have one already.

And don't buy it at Pacific Mall unless you want your super nice 64gb Sandisk card to only hold 8gb :(

If you wanna go there and get one let me know. I'll come with ya, with my laptop. Once you purchase it, we'll stick it in my laptop and run a scan on it to see if it's fake.

Before Christmas its expected.

Prices are already being lowered on the GP3's to clear them out before the release of 4.

Im not up on my tech talk to tell you what the latest/greatest is about it.

But they just released the 3+ and now just clearing out the 3, doesn't make sense that they'll clear out the 3+ 2-3 months after it's been dropped.
 
I saw Royal dist is now carrying a camera called the WARP camera. Looks same as GoPro. at the the tent sale I asked WARP rep what the difference was he laughed and said only the $100 price difference. I was pressed for time so I didn't delve too deep into it. Might be worth looking at.

WASP camera. Its a knock off of the GOPro.
