Good customer service from GP Bikes

I went into GP Bikes one week before Christmas to look specifically at riding pants. The price online was 139 and at the store the tag listed them at 189. I simply asked the sales guy at the service desk what the real price was, he looked online then contacted a manager (older female, short hair and glasses) to ask about the price, she quoted the store price and walked away. Now I am not one to pursue a misquote on a price since I know mistakes are made and I will not hold them to the price if it is obviously a mistake. While talking to the sales guy, the same manager came up to him and me and told him to give me the 139 price, she admitted it was a mistake and they had in fact brought it up to the website administrator but they hadn't done the correction.

Since I didn't argue it, I thought it was pretty cool on her part to just come and honour the 139 price. I am sure she realized she may lose the sale, which she would have, but that to me is good customer service.

just my two cents.

I have nothing to say but good things about their accessories department there. Tom the manager was fanatastic in dealing with my suit issue and now they get first crack at all my gear purchases. I have brought 2 others down there who purchased full gear as well so it just shows how a negative experience can be turned positive.

I've had nothing but good experience with them as well for the most part. Tom fixed an issue I had with my Termignoni exhaust and I was very pleased.

I was hounded & pressured when i was buying my touring jacket. Sometimes i need to take my time to make a decision, i'm not spending just a couple $

Sent from my tablet using my paws

I've had nothing but excellent professional service from them. Prices are normally discounted for me without even asking. Once they see I'm a repeat customer I seem to get 20% off the price without asking. This happens when they don't have any sales on either. When I just started riding and was purchasing my gear for the first time. They took their time to explain everything to me (jacket fit, proper helmet fit etc.).

Mostly great service, a few bad, but hey we all make mistakes.
I like to deal with a older lady in acc ( name escapes me, starts with a M lol)
Very knowledgeable, and patient.

I like to buy when provided with great service and dont mind paying a little extra for it BUT i went to buy some boots ($500+) and they didnt have my size( and because i didnt know how the brand fits)I was told ( young man dont know his name)i could order, pay in full, but could not exchange if they didn't fit! Bought online at a substantial savings, with RETURN shipping if they didnt fit. Now thats customer service.

Funny -- same thing happened to me during boxing week when I asked about trying on a pair of Alpinestars Supertech R. They told me they don't typically stock it (even though they list it on their website), and I could pay in full and order them in, but if they didn't fit, I'd be looking at around a 20% ($100) restock fee. Needless to say I walked out, as there is no way I am paying that amount for a pair of boots I've never seen in person, or tried on for fit or comfort. I do have a feeling it was just the sales rep I was dealing with that one time.

Outside of that one experience I have nothing but good things to say -- I bought all my original riding gear through them and got 20% off, and typically their staff are helpful and let you take your time to decide.

I agree they are very professional and their customer service is amazing, they have looked after me on numerous occasions and I always get 20% off automatically!

Out of interest how is everyone getting 20% off without asking? I've spent well over $1500-2000 there and still have to push for it, or be making a large enough sale (typically over $500) for them to consider it.

Easiest way is to ask for it "can you give me a discount?" Or if you know anyone there just keep going to the same person when you order or buy stuff...I am sure that they will remember you after a few times!

I personally work in retail and give out discounts often. There are a few reasons I give out discounts number one is if I like your attitude and I get along with you. The ones who are friendly occasionally bring treats by and just generally come across as a good person are the ones who get my best service and the best price. These are also the customers who typically refer people to us all the time as well. Although I do appreciate large purchase amounts it really isnt a big deal how much you spend as long as you keep returning or giving me first crack at making a sale with you. The folks who come in expecting to pay less then advertised and have a "sense of entitlement" mentality get zero breaks on pricing and normal good customer service.

Not saying you are this kind of person but may be something to look into how you may come across to others. I am also not saying this is how GP Bikes views there customers just how I do.

I am a customer of yours also bro lol!

Exactly.... I remember the first day you were in and we were busy and I thought you had been helped but had not and you were basically ignored for 10min. Once we realised our mistake I sincerely apologized and we both laughed about it and got on with business. You could have been rude about it but you were not and that's why we have the good relationship we do.

I've bought 99% of my gear/stuff from GP Bikes....... unfortunately I wasn't too impressed at the bike show this past weekend. They did have great deals, but none of the new stuff to try on (none of the 2013 suits) and I even saw a ravaged Dianese suit which, if I was a shop owner, would have been embarassed to have out on the shelf. The arm looked like it had been in a fire, no joke.

They also had mixed/matched gloves in those bin (Please get rid of the "bin storage"). Your most common sizes should be M-L-XL.... not XXS and XXL (and I was there early).

But my experience last year was great. Bought a new Suomy helmet, shipped me a new visor.... favourite helmet purchase to date.

rbjeepthing -- I completely understand what you are saying, and just wanted to note that the only reason I asked that question here was out of interest, as I wasn't sure if maybe the 'always 20% off without asking' came from buying a bike or similar from GP. If it's a large purchase I typically do ask (if it is small, say $50ish most times I'll just pay whatever their listed price is), and unless there is a substantial savings I'll give GP my business over buying from an online storefront.

As for GP Bikes's themselves, as I said above I have nothing but good things to say about them or their staff except for the last sales rep I dealt with in the store regarding trying to order a pair of $500+ boots. Every other time they have been beyond amazing, and even let me take back a helmet (which is against their written policy) before I first started riding, as I had clearly bought the wrong size and they wanted to make sure I was safe on the road. It's actually that one last reason why I always go to GP when I can, or why after finding something I like reviewed online, I check to see if GP also carries it locally.

Glad you did not take my post out of context. :eek:ccasion5:

Threads like this are good to see. I visited their booth at the December show and had a look at a new monster. It's a bit of a ride to get there from downtown, but I'll take the time when it gets a little warmer.
