Good bike road within short distance of Burlington?

Me and my passeneger are going to take a short trip in a couple of days. Only have a few hours and both the starting and finishing point will be Burlington. Any good or scenic roads anyone can recommend with in a very short drive from Burlington ?

I do have a passport but I only have a few hours and can't risk a border crossing delay. Remember the entire ride including the ride back will only be a few hours.

Cedar Springs Road. Head up Brant Street and it turns into Cedar Springs Road north of Dundas St. Ride up to Campbellville and enjoy! Just watch your speed as there are often radar traps around.

take a trip to Niagara, out along Ridge Rd and Hwy 8 down to NOTL along the parkway and come bakc across the escarpment. You could make a few hours or part day out of this. The parkway may start to become busier in the coming weeks though

Either of those are fine. You could go lakeshore up King and wend around to Snake then behind waterdown and across to Cedar Springs up to Twiss and Cambellville road - then across and wiggle a bit to pick up Appleby South ) basically turn left before going under the 401 )
tho becareful of the hairpin at Rattlesnake with a passenger aboard - it's really tight downhill.

Then down Appleby to 4th line ( gorgeous )- to the end - left and home down Walkers Line
If you want to extend that take 5th or 6th Line north and over to Forks - have a coffee - do the Forks and come back the slab or Winston Churchill - lots of zigs and zags in through the escarpment.

You could cut across 5th Sideroad and then pickup the Appleby Line route.

You could take the QEW to Victoria Ave and ride through the vineyards. It's only about 20 mins from Burlington. It's just a long straight country road so skills wise it's no big thrills but there are some nice scenic farms out there if you are just looking for a relaxed cruise with a passenger and some sights. There are only a few stop lights on it and the speed limit 80kms most of the way. You can ride it all the way to Wainfleet and back to Burlington in under 2 hours. I'm about to go ride through it now on my way to Welland, it's a nice shortcut to there via Webber road instead of taking the 406.

Take the QEW or Lakeshore to Centennial parkway and go up the escarpment to ridge road. Follow that all the way into Beamsville, go south from Ridge road and shoot down to Twenty mile creek road (RR69) all the way to Effingham. then from there reverse back down Effingham then north to hwy 8 and take that all the way back to Hamilton.

Personally On the way back I'd blast up thirty mile road to Ridge road then back to Hamllton rather than hwy 8 but that's just me. The scenery along Ridge Road is nicer than 8 but niether have more than a few thrills.

There is one "agricultural road" in there just along the escarpment but above 8 - have found it a couple of times - there are deer warning on it and it's nicer than 8. Somewhere right at the end of Ridge.

Going down along there and then catch the Niagara Parkway all the way to Fort Erie from Niagara on the Lake then home some of the back roads around Welland and pick up Ridge would be a fav route but could not for a second tell you how to do it.

I lived and went to uni in the area so it's well known but I doubt I could name the roads.

My suggestion for you.....

This is a nice figure 8 mix of city and rural with some wonderful twisty roads. Plus you get to do 2 runs of Snake Rd. :blob4:

Thanks everyone for these routes. I took a screen shot of them and did it all today except the forks. Figured there would be too many ss and cops to enjoy.

Good stuff. Actually Forks was not bad today - got decent speed and fun both ways on my way to and from Wasaga.

Anyone have more day trip routes? I am looking to ride the day away tomorrow. Hubby doesn't like it when I stray too far from home. Getting kinda bored doing the same roads.

Forks of the Credit are at Belfountain and a nice segue to that ride from the western end is across to The Grange which is one road south on HWY 10 and then go east - you can then pick any number of roads going north and then on up past 9 to Hawkley Valley and Beaver Valley.

These roads are laid out here at the top of the cruising forum

there are a few others here

My riding partner ( not very active now ) set these out for new riders - some interesting areas. I helped him with the western part around Burlington.

Biker Fairy - I'm riding today as well so happy to take you on some of the local jaunts tho Sat is not my fav day in the area - Sunday morning is better.

I'll head up to the Forks for coffee around 7.30 am and ride for a couple of hours - might need to be back by 11 and then perhaps another jaunt after 2 for the rest of the very long day.
email me macdoc@macdoc.com ....I'm Winston Churchill and 403 area - been riding the area for decades

Lol, thank you so much for putting together this great map, and sharing it! Much appreciated, it will be handy when I'm visiting areas further away from just around home.

There are 3 great roads basically in Burlington - Waterdown Road, Snake Road and King Road that all parallel one another coming off of the north Service road of the 403. I prefer King Rd of the 3, but the others are nice too. Then you could head up north to the Forks of the Credit if you wanted some country driving betweeen.

I found some nice roads while riding with a couple clubs..Might be a way for you to go until you find some Rds you like. There are many right around you. Some already posted the Dundas Valley run ..you can also look at RidgeRd to Grimsby along to Balls falls. You will find Effingham roads just behind it,that will take you to a few other country twisty roads.
