Going to Centennial College this weekend to get M2 [UPDATE]

Yup so forked out $470 today at Ashtonbee campus. I am excited, thrilled and nervous. Seems like it will rain this weekend...gona have to buy a rain suit from canadian tire. I know probably its a boring thread...but feel free to share your experience at Centennial or any other riding programs.

I really enjoyed my course at Centennial and the lead instructor had a wicked sense of humour. Can't really compare it to the other training schools, but I know I learned a lot of really important skills and advice, much of it that actually stuck :-)

Best thing to do now: relax. If you have zero experience like I did, you are going to stall the bike MANY times. Just take it slow, restart her and go again. Don't worry, you won't hurt the bike. And it doesn't matter anyways, its not your bike ;-)

Good luck. And HAVE FUN!!

I had my M2 course there also. Great place , good instructors. You'll enjoy it.

Great place for your m2 course, and all the instructors are helpful. They have rain suits for you, they're basically glad bags lol.

Thanks fellas...not looking forward to the rain though..

My first half day was in the rain as well, to be honest, u would forget abt the rain when ur concentrated. The only time we noticed the rain was when we were taking a break and it felt like we peed our pants. Lol!

The speed would be slow in the parking lot so the rain wouldnt endanger u much.

Alright update.

So I chose the CBR125R but someone else stole it while I was talking to the instructor. I ended up with a cruiser Suzuki Marauder 250CC. I am a noob and it was heavy. I just hated it in the beginning. Eventually, I got used to it. On first day I was slow and my instructor was telling me to go faster. Later in the evening I was already pretty confident and increasing my speed. I passed on Sunday with a perfect score!! So happy and pumped up! haha. 4 out of 5 guys in my team including myself got perfect scores. The other guy had only 1 mark off.

The course was a blast and very tiring as well. But what really matters is that we had FUN and learned a lot of important things! I am actually thankful that I ended up with a heavier bike cuz I got to practice and ride a 250CC. Cruiser is not my type after all, and I will be looking for a nice CBR probably next year :)

Yes, I loved riding in the rain and I didnt even use my rain suit. Returned it to CT today and got my money back. I dropped the bike once during the first day morning. I thought I put the kickstand down but I didnt. When I realized, it was too late and the bike came down. Luckily none of the instructors saw what happened and the guy from my team helped me to pick up the bike.

Gotta leave your helmet and gloves on the bike you want man.

You know it will probably rain some time in the future when you do own a bike and you will be thinking, damn I should have kept that rain suit instead of returning it. I carry mine with me at all times after getting caught out in the middle of no where during a heavy downpour. Of course, my bike has plenty of storage so it is no problem to just leave a rain suit, extra wet weather gloves and rubber boots in one of the side cases.

If you are planning to do any heavy commuting I would recommend rain gear designed for a bike, or at least rain pants that zip on and off easily and that have an elasticized band that runs underneath your boots to keep the pant legs from blowing up in the wind.
