Getting into my first trackday...Costs and considerations

So I'm thinking its time to take my '07 zx6r to the track where it belongs and see what riding an SS is really all about. However, I'm really not sure whats involved in doing a trackday. More so I'm interested in what it will cost me and what Ill need to get.

What are the costs of doing a trackday?

What kind of modifications will I need to make to my bike?

Should I do an organized racing school first? (ie Racer5 or FAST)

Thnx

Direct Costs:
-Paying for the trackday
-Tires if you need them
-Fuel
-Fuel for your truck/car to get there
-Gear rental if you do not already own a 1/2-pc suit, boots, gauntlet gloves, back protector, dot/snell/ece helmet
-Food and drink for the day (do not underestimate staying hydrated)
-Accomodations

Basic Bike Prep:
-Flush out coolant and put in Water with Water Wetter
-Tape up all lights
-Remove headlight/signal fuses
-Check/set correct tire pressure

Optional Bike Prep:
-Safety Wire
-Setup suspension

Get a tech sheet from the organization doing the trackday to see exactly what they require to be done to the bike for it to pass tech inspection.

That's all I can think of right now. Others please chime in.

I would recommend taking a track course if it is your first time out.

Check out the above linked thread and the track day forum in detail;

Besides everything else written I'd advise you go to a track day as a visitor first and walk around the pits. Get there nice and early (7.30ish) so you can watch people unloading and getting their bikes tech inspected. Watch the riders meeting. Look at what people bring, how they're set up. Watch Them going out on track and what they're doing between sessions. It's a very busy day and your first one can be overwhelming and very tiring.

If you've any specific questions you can't find answers to on here then there's a wealth of experience to call upon on the trackday forum. Use it.
