Any recommendations for pants and jackets? Or even 2pc suit, for 3 season weather. Basically for commute and weekend rides

how much are you looking to spend??

for 3 seasons gear I'd be looking at Klim, Rev It or Dainese...$$$ though.

Probably not the highest quality but my Joe Rocket Alter Ego setup has worked for over 4 years already. I think the jacket was around the $300 mark and pants around $200. Jacket comes with a thermal layer and both come with a wind/rain layer. Jacket can also be stripped down to mesh if so inclined.

I bought it at GP Bikes in Whitby, in case you want to go try it on or look at similar (they carry most of the major brands there), plus Royal Distributing is right beside them too.

They retail for about $450 now. St.Onge in Barrie has them as well. Definitely a very versatile jacket, they call it a 3 in 1.

Do they connect together?

I wear Olympia Airlide pants and jacket. They zip together and have thermal/waterproof layers. Probably not Rukka/Klim level but for the money very good quality. CE armor in the elbows, shoulders, back, and knees. Hip armor in the pants is not CE although I swapped that out for CE rated stuff and got the Rukka back insert to up the back armor to CE level 2.

With the thermal and waterproof layers out I have been able to ride comfortable so long as I am moving. At rest I roast in this weather but that would be true if I were in shorts and Tshirt anyway. I think for the money the Olympia is an excellent value. Very adaptable gear for a fair price. This is season 3 for me with this stuff.

What do you mean by connect? If you mean the pants and jacket, not really, but there is a zippered section along the back, so they 'sort of' connect, but not like 360 zips do for race suits. I'm not sure if any textile jacket/pants combo does that actually.

As for the jacket layers, they do. Essentially the wind layer zips into the jacket, and the thermal layer zips into the wind layer. Of course to convert to mesh, the 'vest' area of the jacket can be removed (zips again), to expose the mesh panels within.

One note though about fit...personally I'd make sure it fits without the thermal layer, assuming you do most of your riding when it is warmer. Thermal layer takes up room, so if it fits perfectly with that in, it will likely be too big with it removed. I actually find I don't use the thermal much (maybe 2 weeks before the bike goes away and when it comes out again), but a fleece sweater under the jacket and wind layers works wonders.

I find commuting to be an interesting beast in this city... like conundrum, I have Joe Rocket Alterego pants, but I have a Joe Rocket "Champion" Yamaha Leather jacket. They both have the 8" zipper along the back to zip together, but they don't actually zip together (no big deal).

My jacket fits very snug with a hoodie/sweater on underneath (over a t-shirt), and a little loose with just a t-shirt on - also the "thermal liner" in my jacket is just a vest, not full sleeve, which I like. Ideally, I'd like to buy another leather perf jacket for hot weather rides, for the above reason, but this'll do for now. I LOVE my jacket because it has zippered vents, and I honestly can't fathom spending money on a jacket that doesn't have at least 6 vents (2 arm/pits, 2 front and 2 rear, like my current jacket). Based on my needs for pants at the office (and how cold it is), I'll use the Alterego pants over "nice" work clothes, or if I can get away with jeans, I'll wear one of a few kevlar jeans that I have.

Basically, my tolerance for cold and fitment of the jacket results in the following usage:
<9C: not riding
9C-15C: sweater on, thermal liner in, vents closed
15C-20C: layers same as above, vents open
20C-25C: thermal liner out, sweater on, vents closed
>25C: thermal layer out, no sweater, vents closed or open as necessary.

Venting is sooo important, cuz on a typical day, I'll ride to work in 15C, then home in 30C... it took about a year of steady commuting to figure this out, but I can be comfortable in the full range of temperatures for Southern Ontario :) YMMV

I have a jacket for each weather. Not very expensive if you pick them up on sale. I just bought an a* jacket for $150. Textile, for those days when you're unsure if it would rain

one setup will not be good for 3 seasons. Summer you want mesh or at least perforated leather. Spring and Fall you want variable openings and in Winter, NO openings.

Depends on your commute ... is it in the city and lots of stop and go, or more time spent at speed?

I wore a 3 season Alpinestars textile jacket and overpants for commuting in the summer, it was a bit warm when in traffic or at a standstill but otherwise it was fine when just cruising around country roads. If you are really commuting I would also look into something waterproof for those sudden summer downpours. The overpants were nice cuz I just pulled them off and had my work clothes underneath, but if it's a lot of slow speed commuting you might get a bit warm wearing your regular clothes and then a full set of gear on top.

Too big for me. I need small or even xs. Haha

Yer 3x the man I am.... :)

Joey, alanhung85 is selling a Vanson mesh jacket that might work. Says it's a small, but it's smaller than a XS Joe Rocket. Good thing about a mesh jacket is you can layer a wind breaker oner top to a bit cooler temps.
