gas stations with free air pump

I recall in the last year or two this was talked about on the forum... and I recall that it is required, BY LAW, for a gas station to provide air, free of charge. Sometimes you have to look damn hard for it, but everywhere there is fine print on a sign that says to ask the cashier for complimentary air.

You are right. It is a law that any service station must provide free air upon request, though they are allowed to have coin operated machines to help offset the cost. Its a safety issue. If people dont have a dollar then they would drive around on flat tires and most likely get into an accident and injure someone or themselves.

Though some places still refuse to turn on the pumps for you. The Esso at keele/st claire is awful for this, so i dont go there anymore.

At the Esso at 16th Avenue/Woodbine I needed air. The smallest denomination I had on me was a $20. I walked to the attendant behind the counter and asked if he could break a $20 for a loonie for the air pump. He said he'd turn it on for me for free and he did. I didn't even pay for gas.

Might want to try this strategy at different stations?
