So I noticed a strong smell of gas cOming from my bike and noticed what I thought was an oil leak. Thought the washer on my oil plug was gone so I went to drain the oil and it looks like there is gas mixed in with it. Checked my tank and it is half empty. I filled it up last time I was out. So the question is what the hell happened? And is my bike pooched. It's a 95 z 6r. Thanks

Your bike might be fine, however, it is important that you DO NOT run it as is. Gasoline makes a poor substitute for motor oil. Looks like you've got a winter project on your hands, taking your carbs apart and changing the oil at minimum.

If I remember right, that bike has a vacuum-operated automatic valve for the fuel tank. In addition to having a stuck or dirty carburetor float valve that is not closing, I suspect that the automatic petcock valve on the tank is not closing.
I suspect you're going to find that there is dirt/rust inside the fuel tank, and this may have something to do with both issues. You now know what your winter project is.

Yea, dont even try to run that engine like that. Not only does the fuel wash out the oil protection on the cylinder rings leading to premature wear, but the diluted Oil has reduced bearing protection. In other words, its a great way to destroy the ENTIRE engine....
