Has anyone who takes the Gardiner Expressway have the problem at this location 43.627693,-79.48176 ? If you punch in the coordinates in Google maps and goto the satellite view, you'll see the gap/connector (or whatever it's called) on the bridge. On cars, it's not too bad, just probably bad for the shocks, but on a bike, has anyone encounter a wobbly or one of those 'oh ****' moments at that spot? On Google satellite view, zoom all the way down, or use Streets View ( https://maps.google.ca/maps?q=43.62...Pv-vayZQ3_sirqrSzLaRxA&cbp=12,264.92,,0,17.73 ) and you'll see what I mean. I'd say the most troublesome spot would probably be the 3 left lane (from the right) and on the right tire track would probably be the worst now that I look on the streets view.

Nope. Is that where they took out the Humber Hump? You can still get the feeling if you take the Lakeshore Eastbound exit, just not as intense.

@ baggsy yeah that old humber hump was infamous, i went airborne there once in my corvette and nearly lost control. another guy was killed on that same spot in a vette a few years later, i think they finally fixed it after that, but yeah it's still bad.

There is another bad bump/hump like that on the QEW around the Ford Plant in Oakville, i meant to take get the exact spot the last time i hit it but forgot, but it's when you are coming towards Toronto, if you don't see it coming it's quite a hard thump when you hit it on a bike.

OMG the humber hump was the highlight of every field trip into the city from our public school days!!!! Back seat of the school bus was the ideal launch position!

I miss it!

Truly epic times as a kid!

I know the spot you are talking about but it isn't a problem on anything I've ridden through there. It's just another bump.

If you have a front tire that's worn flat in the middle or is low on pressure, or your suspension is junk or the settings are out to lunch, maybe it's an issue, but then maybe you should fix that instead ...

Where? I ride that a lot and I don't find ANY huge bumps at all. I don't even get little ones.

I think it's only in the centre lane. It's not a metal joint like in the OP's post, but just a big bump that is about 1 lane wide where the pavement has buckled. If you see it coming and stand on the pegs it's not a big deal, but if you hit it hard while sitting and not noticing it rocks your back pretty good. That said i do need new shocks too so that makes it worse. lol

I was thinking the same

I initially thought it was the front tire that has flatten out, with a lot of highway riding that I do, but nope, that's not the case. Both front and rear tire are certainly filled to the correct air pressure as per the sticker on the bike (give or take a psi or two).

Last maintenance was done was only in July and everything checked out fine.

Having said all that, it was just that one time that I've experienced a ever slight wobble (or tank slapper). But it's one of those moment that you hope would never happen.

Going west, avoid the second lane from left. There is a large hole in a piece of concrete located in the right side of the lane that made a slight bend on my front wheel last week.
It’s going to cost me ~1K for a replacement wheel if I can’t get it straightened.:cussing:

I had the unfortunately run in on that lane that one time. So far, I can't see anything that's bent on my sv650. But like I said, it did cause a small wobble, and the fact that it feels damaging to the bike and probably tires. The city really needs to fix it. I remember sitting in my friend's car, and doesn't sound good everytime he goes over that section.

That humber hump was awesome, back when a kid on a bus during school trips, in a car just booking it and even on the bike. But since they've repaved the roads they have completely gotten rid of it :(

As for the bridge connector that you are referring to, that's much futher past South Kingsway next to the Food Terminal on the right, it used to be a huge *** problem but they have fixed it up quite a bit with the paving (they did all that work to the GE because of the G8 Summit so that the PM can show off the city).
