hey,

looking for a new garage door opener with the "timer to close" feature...it basically closes the door automatically at a preset time (5, 10 min)

any suggestions?

thanks

my apologies if this is in the incorrect section....but i do park my bike in the garage, and this feature could be considered added security for your bike.

thanks all for the suggestions...

the indicator light works well, in that it saves me from going outside to check the door.

I like the auto close feature for 2 reasons:

- if I even forget to check the indoor indicator light!
- gives me peace of mind, if I left the house already.

LiftMaster has a control panel that has this feature, but from the youtube video it looks like it only works with certain LM garage door openers...

Something like this? Ebay item 160948030118

yeah I saw those too, there's actually a few different auto closers like that on the market.

but, I was looking for something integrated with the garage door opener...thanks though.

It's a pretty good retrofit solution or can be done when putting in a new system if it has all the other features that you'd want in an opener.

Lift master 8550. It has the auto close feature and you can add a $50 module that allows you to control and monitor on your smart phone. I'm getting mine next week for $300

hey g2teg,, yeah I was looking at the 8550 too...mind telling me where you'll be getting it?
BTW, I just checked, looks like the $50 module(888LM) that allows you to control with a smart phone that you mentioned, requires the 828LM internet gateway (another $50)

another option I was thinking...was to buy the 880LM Smart Control Panel for $50 (included with the 8550) separately...this panel has the auto close feature
and then getting the most inexpensive Lift Master garage door opener, that's compatible.

however, I'm not sure how much of a savings this route would be...compared to the $300 you're getting the 8550 for.

also, thanks again FiReSTaRT...I'm still considering those auto closers as an option.
