My US based company shut down the Canadian office, so I found myself out of work. Luckily found a new job 3 days later. Wanted to take some time before starting as I had a few things to take care of and evaluate.

Found myself watching some day time television and really enjoyed all the classic game shows from the 60's, 70's, 80's.

Then I saw the Canadian version of family feud, I'm now even more embarrassed to be Canadian, where do they find these people?

I read somewhere in regards to game shows that contestants are getting less intelligent and Canadian family feud certainly proves this.

Looking forward to getting back to work...
Old man rant over...

Sorry to hear that @Jampy00 but glad you found a replacement so quick.

Not many can do that!

Good luck w the new venture.

As for daytime shows….cant remember the last time I’ve seen one.

Two CanCon classics I recall from my youth that I would only see if I stayed home sick from school were Bumper Stumpers and The New Liars Club.

Some game shows make you feel smart, some not so much. There's a UK quiz show called Only Connect that's so brutally difficult that you finish watching feeling impossibly stupid. Even the theme song says the show is smarter than you...

Glad you found new employment.

Some of the "classic" games are not the same with the new replace hosts. But I guess no one lives forever.

I really enjoy family fued. The American version has a better host. The contestants seem to be a little sharper over there as well. I thought Canadians were always smarter then Americans. Lol

This is a classic for Canadian television.

Thanks, no need to mope around. I hit the ground running. Took a simpler job but with a pay cut compared to my previous employment. So we'll see how things pan out in the new year.

As for day time tv, I'm the same have not watched any in years. Don't think I missed much.. lol

A few hosts retired or died.

The primary reason WE think that the shows are much worse are because we have interlocked the host, with the show. With a new host...it's different, worse, and not as we remember it fondly from the older days.

Nostalgia sucks sometimes as it prevents you from seeing things with fresh set of eyes.

Not sure, don't care about host as much as the game.

We cancelled cable TV years ago, but get about 5 - 6 channels using one of flat antennas. We watch the U.S. version of Family Fued a few times a week at 7PM before streaming something. Where does Harvey get his suits? Some are quite sharp, others insane. Your head will explode listening to people provide stupid answers to ridiculous questions.

The level of stupidity is definitely high.

Haven’t had cable for 12+ years nowadays.

We just buy those IPTV android boxes preprogrammed (as I can’t code) and just run those into the ground.

So many stations and options wife and I get frustrated looking for something to watch so we end up not watching anything at times.

100000% the suits are custom made and probably never worn again . Or very seldom at the most.

My family was in the studio audience of Family Feud Canada in September of 2022. It was an interesting experience - lots more practicing and scripting than I thought there would be on a game show, but now some of the things I've seen make sense. We were in 2 episodes - S04E51 and I think 52 which aired during Dec of that year. The cameras were pointing right at us during the Fast Money rounds, and you can see me for half a second at the end of the round. You can also see us in the opening shot when they pan around the stage and catch some of the studio audience, but you have to know where to look. I only caught it because I remembered where we were sitting.

That's cool.

How did you end up being part of the audience?

Most game shows you can request tickets. But the last time I actually saw this you had to mail a request...
I'm old...

My spouse and a bunch of her friends from work, all RN's at Credit Valley Hospital, got up early one day and headed to Toronto to be in the audience on the live Marilyn Denis show. They had a great time. Spouse, as a kid in Montreal, was in the audience at the Magic Tom show in the sixties. We're old as dust BTW.

My wife attended (as a member of the audience) the CityLine show twice. I joined her one of those times.
I remember she emailed them and was "chosen" to be part of it.
