fz6r second bike for female?

hey,

so im looking to get a second bike, the first one (500cc) had got stolen :( I have an m2 since march and felt completly comfortable during the msf course and for highway driving. I will me moving to northern ontario soon so a bike that can handle 4+ hours on the highway would be needed. the one im leaning towards is the fz6r, but the gsx650f or R6 has been mentioned. i went to the dealerships and could flat foot all so high seat height is no problem. any other ideas for a sportbike would be great. tnx!

R6 has different ergos to the other bikes you mentioned. The GSX is a touring bike I think and I've seen posts about how the seat is comfy which could be a consideration. 4+ hours on the highway might make you think about comfort a lot. My brother has the Fz6R and has toured across Europe with it no problem and he likes it a lot. The R6 is more leaned over, that might be uncomfortable (for you) after a while.

+1 look into the sport tourers if you are going to do many long highway runs. also look into luggage mounting etc.

okay thanks! i like the more upright seating position of the fz6r and leaning way towards that one, because the r6 is more forward riding position i think it would be harder on the back after a while.

I've done 5+ hour rides up north on my fz6r and it's plenty comfortable and still rips around town well. It'll never have the performace of the R6 but it's a really well rounded bike and I love mine.

My wife has a 09 FZ6R. She's very comfortable on it and very happy with it. She uses it on the 401 all the time. I'll admit that sometimes I take it to work instead of my own because it is so forgiving. It sounds like a slightly cheezed off sewing machine though, so you might want to earmark some coin for an exhaust.

FZ6R great choice. R6, not so great

i've done many 10+ rides on SS's, really not many issues there...

Yamaha demo day in Brampton, you should look into getting a ride on the FZ6R. With that being said, I had one briefly, and well I wasn't impressed.

For female? Hmmm... different bikes will handle differently if you have a taco rather than a wiener.

Just buggin' ya! I have no idea why sex or gender should matter in your decision.

My son has the GSX 650 F. Its a great sport touring bike. handles very well in twisties, hyw and even 2 up. I road it last year round the east coast and back loaded with camping gear.

R6 is great for those 2-3hr boots in the twisties but can get pretty assraping on longer rides. FZ6R is a great choice for relaxed pace touring but still capable enough in the twisties.

I want to ride one of these, I've rode the FZ6R and really liked it, but the suzuki is HEAVY. 540lbs wet vs 467lbs wet for the fizzer. since I haven't rode the suzuki I can't say if the extra weight is really noticeable, but lighter is usually better. both are a far cry from my 250R that's a slender 375lbs wet :)

I just checked the shop manual for the GSX 650 F and it comes up as 476lbs not 540. so there is not much difference in the weight between the two.

I was stating wet weights, according to the spec on their respective websites. there still seems to be some discrepancy however, since the oil, coolant, and fuel aren't going to make up and extra 70lbs over what the shop manual is stating.

The SV650 is an amazing bike, I'd suggest it as a contender.

Nah, the gsx-650f really is a heavy pig. I honestly didn't notice the weight much, but was also mostly just straight riding. That and a my own gs500f isn't exactly a light weight either (edit: nvm, its stuck in my head that its over 500 wet when its closer to 400). I doubt trying to lift a dropped 650f would be fun.
