Genius.. Pure genius

Wish the cagers out in these parts paid attention to their surroundings like this bloke did. Not just driving like robots with tunnel vision. Having said that, what a stupid, stupid move on the bikers part!

Good attention to detail on the cager's part.
Made perfect use of his mirrors!

Their right turn would equal our left turn so... Who uses their mirrors when doing a left turn... Pay attention to whats in front of you when doing a turn not behind you .

Everyone should do turns/lane changes like this guy!

I've seen cyclists here do that sort of thing. Car signaling to turn right, cyclist blows by the car nearly getting hit. I see this numerous times and in some cases the cyclist gets POed... bastards eh...

I get what you are saying but to answer your question, I do it all the time. It is amazing at how many a-holes will try and cut on the inside of you making a left turn and I make mine sharp and quick so there is really no need to be so bloody impatient when you are behind me.

What is amazing is how many people that record their drive.

I record my rides but maybe i should also record my drives too... hmmm

This is not quite on topic, but I am reminded of something clever I saw in Virginia.
I was driving a van, following a Nissan auto, which was following a Chevrolet car.

We were smoothly going along a secondary highway, like highway 118 in Muskoka.
Because of hills and turns, the Chevrolet was sometimes visible, sometimes hidden.

By and by, the Chevrolet commenced signalling left. OK, I see that. A moment
later, the Nissan started signalling left also. OK, they are going to the same place.

A short time later, we all slowed, then we waited for an oncoming car to go by,
then the Chevrolet turned left into a driveway. The Nissan ceased signalling,
and resumed going along the road at about the speed limit.

You get it, don't you? The Nissan driver alerted me that passing her when she
slowed down would be a really bad idea, because the Chevrolet would then be
turning left, and perhaps I was not noticing the Chevrolet's signal.

After a few minutes, the Nissan again signaled left, and this time it DID turn,
into the parking lot of a store. I pulled in and stopped beside her, then I got out
of the van, walked to the Nissan, and thanked the driver for the lesson.
I happened to have a spare cassette (this was a few years back) of Paul Simon's
album Graceland, and I gave it to her as a tiny tribute. She thanked me.

What idiot doesn't check their mirror before turning left on a road like that?! I know most people don't, and most people also don't check their mirror before pulling out to pass someone, not realising someone behind them is already pulled out and at their rear bumper.

I never look at my mirrors when doing a left turn. I do for right turns though, just in case a person on a bicycle decides to run the light.

Awesome! That made my day, thanks.

You're supposed to.

Reason: Emergency Vehicles, Overtaking vehicles, Crazy people on the opposite side of the road for some reason or another

Not to mention the fact that if someone is driving on the wrong side of the road and hit you while your left turning, it will be your fault.

No, i don't think that it will be your fault under that situation.

If someone is overtaking on a dotted yellow and you make a left turn into a driveway (or a road where the dotted yellow does not turn solid), you would likely be at least partially responsible.

Either way, if you were on a bike, does it matter who is at fault when you're laying in a hospital bed?
