FU INTACT INSURANCE/ Insurance Gouging

I have to say, Insurance has always been a rip off and I've never been one to complain but the recent renewal from intact is absolutely ridiculous.

Got my policy renewal in the mail which is going to be effective Sept 1st. They quoted $1422 per year. This year that past I was paying $870!!!

I would like to know how the insurance companies can justify a hike of over $550 bucks?

This is just for liability as well, no fire , no theft nothing, due to the fact that they do not cover my motorcycle for those things as it is 23 years old(90GSXR1100). I also have a 78 Goldwing insured with them that is going through the same treatment.

Needless to say, I wont be renewing my insurance with them.

I need to move to Pickle Lake or something.

With Intact I went from $1250 with one ticket on my abstract, to $1776 with no tickets.

Call Allstate if you're at least 30 and have a full M. Their rates will beat Intact.

If you have a totally clean record, I found RBC had really cheap rates too, but you have to be careful since unlike most iinsurers they will raise rates on even a single minor.

Many of us saw a decrease in their rates w/intact. I dropped aprox $800 from last year to this recent renewal.

Write a letter to the CEO / president / regional manager etc.. whoever you can find as far up the chain as possible :

Dear <CEO/Pres>,

I have had policies on two vehicles with your company for <xx> years.

I have recently received a notice informing me of an <xx%> increase in my rates, despite the fact that I have
had ?? <no incidents> / <no traffic tickets> ???

I can only assume there must have been some kind of clerical error with my account(s).

Please investigate and correct this error, otherwise I will be forced to take my business elsewhere.

Regards,

here's the reply:

"Don't let the door hit you on the way out"

Lots of flood loss claims they have to account for.
