Front end shake

Today I've noticed that the front end starts to shake if I let go off the bars.

The whole thing starts off as little vibration and then develops to quite a big shake.

What could be the cause ?
 
Are your wheels aligned?

Are your front forks aligned?

Is your front tire getting old/have uneven wear?
 
Balance weights are there, but the tire is stock from 08 and has 43k on it.

I can't find uneven wear, it's very well used up as far as I can tell, but I guess maybe it can go off balance over time ?

Have a shop replace the tires and do an inspection.
 
I do it all the time just to sit upright and stretch my back or adjust my gloves. I ride alone as far away from everyone as I can and only do this when I'm coming to a stop while using the rear brake, surprised I haven't crashed yet using that scary piece of equipment.

nope...just tires. And I'll have to agree that 43,000 is really pushing it. It's the only thing directly connecting you to the road.
 
With 43k on the same tire my guess would be a tire issue. maybe out of balance maybe the tire is feathered or flat spotted. Best thing is to take it to a place that does bikes and let then check it out.
