French M/C Protest

France has a good history for that kind of stuff, and the culture to go with it. Canada's still new and working on both.

Canada is and will remain to be multicultural. I doubt that it will reach the levels of unity that would allow all riders (or any other subset of society) to stand up against a cause that does not affect majority of the population.

It's not that Canadians won't stand against anything---take the CRTC's ruling about Internet throttling for example. But that was something that would affect riders and non-riders alike.

France is very multicultural. Large populations of Algerians, Senegalese, Tunisians and those are just the immigrants from former French colonies. There's actually a massive racism problem in France, Jean Marie LePen rose to power as a prominent politician on a repatriation ticket there due to the large numbers of immigrants. There's a huge anti-racist movement ongoing in the country trying to stem the upsurge of skinhead idiots. The riots a few years ago were of disaffected young immigrants being unable to find work.

The real reason that I think so many motorcyclists were able to rally themselves is more to do with the motorcycle being a true transport alternative rather than just a hobby in the country, that and the traditional role of people power. Remember your history of the Bastille!!!!

Wonderful, except for this ....

France is completely multicultural and sadly there exists a ton of unrest between groups. Hell, this is the government that tried to distract people from the global economic crisis by blaming rising crime rates on Gypsies! lol
