Frame question

So I am looking at a 70's custom rolling frame chopper kinda thingy project....problem is there is no engine, (frame based on a 72 bonneville 650 engine). So my question is;
Can you register the bike based on a serial number on the engine only. (seller has original receipts etc. for the frame purchase), but apparently there is no id #'s on the frame. The bike was registered in BC a long time ago.....etc.
Anyone gone down this road before? Don't want to go through all the effort and find out I cannot register/insure it.

If the situation is as described and that's all there is to the story, then forget it.

Registration goes by VIN, which is a chassis number, not an engine number.

If there is ownership paperwork that shows a VIN and that VIN checks out OK through the Ministry of Transport then maybe there's a hope. But if "original receipts" just means a piece of paper with words on it and not an official ownership with a VIN then that's meaningless.

No VIN ... no go.

you only have 2 options. Read up on home built titles and make sure your insurance company will insure one. Buy a clean titled frame from a 70's bike and stamp the numbers on the frame you have.
