Forkes were desserted

Yesterday, I went to the Forkes around 5:00pm and there was just one more bike there. Two came later and for the next hour I did not see any more. Also, interesting was that all of them were Cruisers...No Rockets... I only saw 2-3 bikes while going to and coming back from brampton. Was it the hot day or something I didn't know...Usually, it is fellow riders everywhere, felt alone in Dessert.

3 words in your thread title and 2 of them are spelt wrong, congrats!
And I agree with EVO, "Forkes" are not that special. I usually travel on better roads getting there.

I went to toronto yesterday from london.. Went home via forks of the credit road....

That road is really over rated. Not bad for ontario i guess.... but not worth putting on a motorcycle map.... drive 1 hr in a straight line and make 3 corners.

it was pretty hot yesterday, i wish i hadnt gone on such a long ride lol. sitting in traffic at wasaga the bike was hitting 125 degrees

Its fun for 5 min and a good jump off spot and the hair pin is so tight it's just an annoying interruption.
New pavement is nice.

I agree with whoever says there are fun roads getting there. Even The Grange on the other side of 10 is more fun in some ways - THAT should be on the map as the pair make it better and it's a nice route over to the north south roads and then up to 13 etc around Hockley and Terra Nova

You CAN stitch some decent roads together but not much continuous. :(

Quite a few here now - 35 degrees - damn hot riding.....glad the umbrellas are out. :confused1:

Tough day with gear - even the mesh didn't help much.....

I think it's the threat of noise level testing.

That's what they get for being hostile to riders down there and introducing those idiotic sound laws/restrictions, now there are less bikes up there around Caledon and less money going into local businesses. I hope they go bankrupt.

Sure

Some seem not to be able to ride without COTU noise.
Most get by that after the playing card in the spokes phase.

It's actually nice to have a conversation up here instead of straight pipe interruptus.

I know quite a few people who opt not to ride those roads/areas anymore, strictly due to noise laws, myself included. I know you don't give a ****, but it does hurt areas economy, even if just a bit, and I am glad it does.

So what are you going to do when, and it is a matter of when and not if, the Caledon bylaw is eventually adopted by other municipalities and even incorporated province-wide into the HTA? Remember, Caledon is just the local test case for now. If it works, it will expand elsewhere.
Council will also write to the Ontario Minister of Transportation including a copy of the new bylaw, asking that the province consider an amendment to the Highway Traffic Act to establish a province-wide test to measure motorcycle noise. http://www.wheels.ca/newsFeatures/article/792070

Until then, it hurts the area's economy, just a bit. God knows that the loss of a few coffee sales is going to absolutely cripple the local economy.

Then again, how many have stopped spending time around Belfountain's main intersection specifically BECAUSE of the unpleasant and excessive noise created by inconsiderate riders?

The thing is, when the noise refugees start coming back they will do it in cars and minivans and SUVs, all the more appropriate to bring MORE people to Belfountain to buy MORE coffee and ice cream, and more important, to buy MORE things from the other shops there that they can then cart back to their homes.

I've spoken to the girls at The Shed. They love motorcyclists and judging from the number of bikes parked in their lot, they depend on biker business. They would definitely take a hit at the cash register if the motorcycle traffic dies off.

It won't ...most are civilized.
Get enough fools tho and this happens

Can't ride on 17 mile drive in Pebble Beach on a motorcycle, due to the loud idiots screwing it up for everyone else. Motorcycles are prohibited.

It is really funny if you peruse some of the loud-bike-and-pirate-costume message boards. They really wonder *why* motorcycles are banned.

I'm staying in a cabin-type Bed and Breakfast in the mountains of Western North Carolina this weekend. The nearest town has the above sign just outside the city limits on either end.

I have seen similar signs and ordnances in other towns. One mountain town I know of restricts motorcycle traffic just like semi traffic = not allowed.

Yes, but the local economy is hardly dependent on The Shed, and The Shed's business is hardly dependent on those bikes that are excessively loud. There are plenty of "quiet-enough" bikes out there that will still make the trip.

Thread starts out promising.

Turns into nerdfest before the first page is out.
