Forcing the crown to go to trial

If someone does crap to you, the police investigate and lay charges the crown can say "Oh hum. We're too busy looking after other things so we won't be hearing that case. Tough luck." Crime can pay.

Retaliation / street justice is one answer but the police and crown will come down on you hard. They don't like it when you do their job for them, even if they have no intentions of doing it themselves.

Any way of forcing the issue short of owning a major newspaper and outing the slacker?

If you wonder why the cops don't bother with a lot of petty crime it could be because they know it'll get chucked in the wastebasket ten minutes after they hand in the papers.

What about civil action? Check with a lawyer and see if you have an option to sue under tort law.

But if it is a criminal charge and you are looking for the other party to spend some time in jail, maybe the best is to insist? escalate?

I guess you can't post all the details here but it depends on what you want.

Civil action gets tied in with other issues and would be a lot easier if someone was proven guilty.
