Flat Rear Tire..

Have a flat rear tire. The pucture is literally size of a pin hole right on the center of the tire. Would you plug it or buy a new tire? Tire has plenty of tread still. Because the pucture is on the tread where the tire is used most im thinking twice whether to plug it. Any suggestions? thanks

Plug. Done it on a few tires, then wore them down past the wear bars.

although many people here wont agree, i just used tire slime on my rear last night. works like a charm so far. just be sure that when you purchase it, you:

A: make sure the black valve removal tool is attached (a little black cap at the top of the bottle)

B: do not put too much. i put (i think) 8oz.

shoot me a pm if you need my help and i can maybe help you, although it is a terribly easy thing to do.

Plug or patch it .. and youll ride that tire with zero issues.

Put that slime in it, ( or equivalent) and i wouldnt trust riding on it.
For those that put that crap in your tire, remember to tell the person who changes your tire out next time. Nothing worse than having that crap blast all over the place.

I take it i can get something from crappy tire to plug it myself or do i gotta get it to a garage to get it done? thanks again

I put 2 of these in a tire with less than 300kms - very close to the 'centre' of the tire:

http://www.princessauto.com/pal/product/8107708/Patching/2-pc-2-in.-Tire-Plug-Patch-Kit

Then - I went south and gave it a good workout at Deal's Gap & surrounding area. No probs.
(not the 1st time I've used these, with 100% satisfaction - the plug patch will outlast the tire)

BTW - if the hole in your tire is "pin sized", drill a 1/8 hole through it to accomodate the patch plug.
I use a stone bit on my Dremel to 'clean' the carcass before applying the compound & plug.
Works like Hollywood.

thanks man i think ill give that a try
