Ok so my uncle and his grandkids are coming up from Arkansas this weekend for a week and he loves to fish! As mush as I do i just dont get out enough. Can anyone suggest a nice lake that has either great shore fishing or some great boat fishing lakes that the kids can enjoy.
A bonus would be a nice beach area for the kids to play on, but fishing is first priority here! lol

Off hwy 36 , there is the backroad to bobcaygeon. Just past the Dunsford/Thurstonia turn off. After the first bridge, there is a small beach area for kids etc.

You can launch the boat just down the road at the marina, and come back to this spot. It is full of weeds, hidden logs etc. It hides some of the best bass, walleye and musky in the area.

You will have to watch for hidden logs etc in the water if you get close enough to the bridge though.

So is that right off 36 or the side road you are speaking of?

There's lots of catfish in the swan pond at Toronto Island. Although fishing at the Harbourfront has been banned, I once saw a guy reel in a 10 pound pike.

I don't know about the fishing but Orillia has a really decent beach, interesting small downtown and boat rentals at the narrows (Blue Beacon Marina). There is a mix of deep water and shallows and you have your choice of either Lake Simcoe or Couchiching.

If you have your own boat the launching is free and decent at Orillia.

My opinion of Rice Lake is it's good for fishing but a bit slimey for swimming. On the good side of that you can pick the leeches off the kids and use them for bait. (The leeches, not the kids) :(

Emily Creek is what it's called, I believe. My family used to have a cottage just off of Thurstonia road on Sturgeon Lake, great place to fish. I spent a lot of time in that area
