So after the suggestions from some of the posters on an earlier post I went to Honda for the first service for my CBR250R ($260 tax in!)...and frankly I couldn't be happier with the service. The service advisor at the shop, Derrick, was very helpful and answered any questions that I had about the bike. He was open about the timing of the service, and the price that it was going to come out to.
They found the rattle that I complained about from the front end but said that because I seemed like in a rush to get the bike back they put a note in the system about it and I can come back anytime to get it fixed up under warranty.

Overall very happy with the service and will be going back...oh yes...and they even cleaned the bike for me!

I don't have the invoice with me but basically it's the oil/filter change for the bike, as well as an inspection of the valve clearances (some posters stated they don't actually do this) and an inspection of the nuts and bolts to ensure that nothing's come loose from the factory PDI. So basically a general check over. The advisor also claimed that Honda has sent out a bulletin on the CBR250R on the importance of the re-check of the PDI. Maybe they've had issues (he claimed no) or it's just blowing smoke...not sure but the bike did feel a little quieter but it could all be in my mind.

$260 for an oil change, filter and a wash, wow! Gotta love the stealership:thumbup:

LoL Ya...makes me want to cry a bit too...next oil changes are on my own as I think 8k is a LONG time to wait before the next service

I bought my bike (CBR 250) from them last year and was also pleased with the staff, and not just the bike guys. Good to hear about the service as I still need to bring it in for its first service...

Haven't rode much after hitting 1000 km because of winter and now no insurance, waiting until next month so I can be insured through jevco, 1 year m1 anniversary :)

The chances of a new bike's valves going out of spec at first service is virtually none.

plz do yourself a favour and invest some time in learning how to work on your own bike. Buy some tools and get to work! There are tonnes of videos and DIY tutorials for simple maintenance work.

Exactly what i was thinking.. $260 for an oil change and checking bolts...

Next time Let me know and i will do the oil change for you! :)

WOW hondas are expensive to service!!! First service on my Ducati was $130 bucks. ?

1st service = glorified oil change

How long did you wait? That will be a prime indicator of what was or wasn't done.

I left the car with them on Monday night and then picked it up on Tuesday night. Unfortunately they don't do the bigger services on the weekends.

As for the next servicing...yes I will be doing them on my own I just wanted to get this one in the books and that was the reason for it. Plus the rattling was annoying the hell out of me so they were able to find that and I'll get that fixed once I see the weather will be crap for a few days.

cbc - thanks for the offer but I'll pass! LoL Anyone wants to help me with the next service I'll buy them a beer (or a few) instead of $260! LoL
