first oil change

wanting to change my oil for the first time since i got my bike
its a 96' 535 yamaha virago... what type of oil does it take...how much of it?... can i get the filter at Canadaian tire?

any other advice also greatly appriciated

I would suggest to have a look at the manual.
If you don't have it try to find one for your bike online.
That's what I did for my bike.
If you want to do all the service work yourself, I would also suggest a repair/service manual.
This I actually bought on amazon.
