The first (of at least two) annual wine tasting ride.

By popular vote, I am updating the post to reflect the choice:

BEAMSVILLE AREA
We'll commence at Kittling Ridge and grab a few bottles of Maple Liqueur and select oak cask whiskey. The winery opens at 10:00am on Saturday. The group will meet there and spend no more than 45min sampling their products and making various purchases. For those that come on their own, take the Casablanca exit off the QEW, turn right off the ramp, and make a left at the first intersection (follow the signs). Please be there and ready to leave by 10:30am.

From here we'll get back onto the QEW and exit at #64 (Ontario Street) where we'll bypass Magnotta and instead head backwards along the South Service Road to the brand new The Good Earth where I have no idea what we'll find. After this it's the tight cluster of 7 wineries including Rosewood Estates and their white wine selection, then across the street is Thirty Bench with some interesting reds and whites; just a few hundred meters beyond is the Angels Gate where the views are spectacular but the wine is questionable. After this we'll visit the brand new Organized Crime Winery with some select blends; the Fielding Estate and their blended options are just around the corner, and we'll return past East Dell Estates (more reds and whites, non-descript) and Hidden Bench which was hidden to us last time we went to this area. In closing, we'll stop at Crown Bench Estates to buy some of their fruit wines and Hot Ice, Ginger Ice, and whatever other Ice they invented last year - and close with deSousa Winery which exchanged hands and owners but hopefully still have the best Chardonnay Musqué in the province. Lunch will likely be somewhere on king Street in Beamsville.

MEETING SPOTS:
Downtown riders: please be at the Shell gas station (west side of Spadina south of King Street) ready to leave by 8:15am.
West End (Mississauga): please be at the Esso gas station (west side of Erin Mills @ Leanne) ready to leave by 9:00am.
Group meet: please be ready to leave Kittling Ridge Winery no later than 10:45am.

Remember that, as will all my wine tasting rides in the past, DRINKING AND RIDING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!!

I don't really understand either. It's a WINE TASTING ride, but drinking and riding will not be tolerated....? How is that going to work?
Or is it just a tour of a winery without the tasting....?

wtf mate?

You can taste wine without drinking it and getting wasted. Why do you think there are spittoons all over the place at wineries?

What he said - or you could just simply listen to the description of the wine and decide whether it's worth purchasing any bottles for your future guests or for drinking alone in your basement...

With the amount of vineyards you are planning to attent and taste several glasses at each, you will be consuming wine even if you use the spitunes. I know I can carry several cases in my ss luggage compartments... All im trying to say is be safe I guess... Seems like a recipe for disaster though.

It would be very difficult to go to wineries without tasting the wine. Good luck with that.

However, IMHO, there are too many wineries, and too many stops, which creates the undesirable opportunity of consuming excess alcohol, plus everything can/will likely be rushed.

Suggestion.......pare it down to 3 wineries, and DO THE TOURS. They are amazing to see if you hit the right wineries.

And it gives many a chance to sober up in between tastings. ;)

That's a pretty f'ed up way to say be safe.....

And this isn't the first year this ride has happened, and there haven't been any horrible outcomes. More mature riders are fully capable of doing this ride without drinking and riding.

Being in favour of ice wines and late harvest wines I would be interested in going to Beamsville.

The problem is riding the bike, as I seldom drink more than one beer/wine when riding.

If the trip includes a bus tour count myself and wife in!

FIRST POST UPDATED - check for new info. Dress appropriately: the ride will conclude after the last winery closes (around 6pm) so expect to be back in the GTA around 8pm. See you on the ride - rain or shine!
