Fire lane parkers

What is with the amount of people who park in fire lanes these days?
Some even do it when there are more than enough parking spots available too.

Furthermore, why does there seem to be zero enforcement of this bylaw, neither by bylaw officers, police, or even parking lot management? If I were a cop I could probably write $10000 worth of tickets a day just for all the people out there being complete *****.

It especially pisses me off when the fire lane is too narrow for a parked car and two driving lanes, so a line of of vehicles waiting to get around forms while some jackass just sits there oblivious (or entitled) to his/her chosen spot in the fire lane.

Here is a van I saw today parked in a fire lane beside a nearly empty parking lot -- in front of the closed down Rona at Mavis/Britannia. I was in the Maytag shop then 2001 Audio Video for at least 30 minutes and that van sat parked there the whole time. I never did see the driver, or I would have told him/her how lazy they are -- being a spot not 20' away.

At least the limo might possibly have an excuse... there might not have been 5 spots side by side open. This van driver had his choice of a regular spot and a handicap spot just on the other side of that median.

I have noticed it more and more at grocery stores and Costco.

People can't walk 100' to their car so the dad goes and get's the car then the load it while blocking the sidewalk. Uhh.. ok.

There was plenty of room for him to park on the outer perimeter of the lot. It would have meant a trek of about 75-80 feet to the store, though.

LOL, got into a long winded discussion on another site re: ****** parking especially around handicap. I told the story of kicking in side of brand new Volvo after he almost mowed me down to get a spot in the fire lane. Reception did not go as planned, thread took a turn for the worse, am now banned for life. Oops. Keep the pictures coming.

Everyone always thinks they'll be back in "just a second" which usually lasts at least 5 mins especially at Starbucks parking lots. Many times ramps are blocked which force people with strollers/wheelchairs/walkers to either hop down off the curb or walk another 5 mins to another. Why? Cause people don't want to "park" their car in an actual spot - many times there are open spots within 2-3 car lengths of where they decide to block people in front of a shop.

Its not like they don't know that they shouldn't park there as 90% of the time, these people are parking in front of the No Parking sign.

Of course, if they get a ticket, they start the whole "you're just picking on me", "I was only here for a minute", "you're such a ******", etc etc.

Please. These are very important people. Far more important than are you or I. I see them all the time; usually pulling up right in front of the pay area of the gas station, so they can go inside and buy a coffee or something, blocking me in where I'm filling up.
