Finally got my basketcase running!

Picked this up a couple months ago for $1400. Still in the works, but I'll put plates on it this week and ride it dirty.

Looks like hell, the paintjob is really, really, awful. But I can get new plastics for $500, so I'm not too concerned with that right now.
Any suggestions on what to do about that mangled rear end? The turn signals are not in the stock location, and the reflectors are also relocated, giving the bike an awful posterior

At least it runs good now!

I liked those ThunderCats. Fix er up real nice, they are comfortable to ride on.

Thanks Dr.M! I believe I will eventually order the chinese replica bodywork, it's only $500 shipped and painted. Then I can decide whether or not i want to repair the Yamaha fairings, they are really thrashed.

As for the comfort, that was probably the deciding factor in why i pulled the trigger on such a beat up bike. Of course it has really low kms, that didn't hurt either. I rode a ZX7 last 2 years, so this is a step down in power but a huge leap for comfort! :D

Got my new chinese plastics installed!

What was wrong with it?

Gunked up gas tank/fuel filter/carbs and jets
Leaked oil
Missing parts

Poor thing had green slime and varnish where there should have been gasoline. It got a really good once over and fixed everything. Now I'm onto aesthetics. :D

Hey LoneRonin, I got the plastics from http://www.neverland-motor.com/ - they do fit well, although lighter and thinner than the OEM plastics. My stock turn signals do not sit well in them, switching to flush mounts because of this, but apart from that I have no complaints! I'd give them a 9/10 over all, and a 10/10 for value ($500 shipped and ready to install).

That thing certified like that?

It had everything it needed to pass cert when it did.. it was blue then. I just installed the plastics, I will update when the rear fender kit and lights are all installed. Going with LED flush smoked for the front, along with turn signal mirrors, and LED rears.

Was the rear subframe straightened for the certification?

Didn't call me on it, and I hadn't noticed until you pointed it out. Might be a little tweaked, or might just be the camera angle and crappy footage. Either way, it rides fine. I'll look into it further..
