I had problems loading the routes onto my iPad so I got a late start close to 10:00 am.
There was just a few sprinkles of rain but I soon outran the parsipitation with only cloud thevrest of the day.
The central road thru Gatineau Park is now closed to vehicles other than bicycles.
What a waste of a beutiful road!!
There are still some roads open in the "Park" so it is still a good ride.
I got to the end of the road going into Meech Lake but was forbiden entry to the Prime Ministers cottage. (see link)
by a double row steel gate and guard house.
I am sure they where taking pictures of me taking this picture.

The road in is in horrible condition but I guess it doesn't matter if you have acess to a helicopter!

Day 1

August 7th I got an early start at 8:00 am
Temperature was in the high teens with max at 24 degrees and sunny.
The pictures below show someone has a lot of time on there hands.
photos taken near end of road at Malloy Bay (furthest point north on map)

Lunch was at a bit of Canadianana, a small town Ma & Pa, Chinese restaurant.
They worked all there lives to raise a family and put the children thru college.
When they are to old too run the restaurant it will probably close and become just another abandoned building along with the Garage,
General Store and Post Office.

Day 2

Thursday I was on the road again by 8:00 am withe some high cloud that got heavier as the day went on.
There was a small shower just south of Verona but I did not need to put on my rain gear.
Jeans where dry by the time I got home.
Stopped at the hydro dam on the Madawaska River

Breakfast was at Wheelers Pancake House near MacDonals's Corners.

Nice route, lots of interesting places there.

Foymount is an old radar installation that was noted in Ron Brown's Ghost Towns of Ontario. There's not a lot left of the military infrastructure there but you can see the abandoned apartments and some other stuff.

I find stuff like that interesting, imagining what it was and why it was. Ron Brown's books provide me with inspiration to go for a ride.

I try to be optimistic but I still pack my rain gear!

Today (Tuesday) looks very wet all across southern Ontario. It might be better once you are north of Ottawa. Wednesday and Thursday look better, but I wouldn't place any bets on Friday. For the past couple of years it's been nearly impossible to string more than two days together for an extended ride without at least one day of rain.

Update

How's the section of road from Matawatchan Rd down to Plevna? I've never actually turned off that road but should explore it more.

There was one section that has been torn up for repaving so it is a few km of packed gravel with one section (100 yards) of loose sand.
This should change over the next few weeks. Some sections are very rough and some sections are new pavement.
It might be an issue with a big touring bike or something with clip-ons but ADVs are built for this. The Guzzi has upgraded suspension but
still rough ride at times. The sharp corners on good pavement make the trip worth while.
