Yessir. A bit of this and a bit of that. For the better part of 20 years or so. Not a fighter, but have competed.

Under Sensi Walsh? I heard the Don Mills school moved a while back, I trained there until a few years ago. spent about 12 years there lol.

Jits is a great sport, buddy of mine competes in it.

I find combat sports generally different than team sports, something about the threat to your safety that makes it different. @ carlos, do you still compete?

Yes. He's an avid rider as well :-)

Anyone that's married also qualifies.

Taekwondo for 15 years. Trained MMA for 5 years. Been competing in local MMA fights for 3 years, 9-3 record. Full contact taekwondo for most of those 15 years, never kept a record for that

23 been at it since 18...I've done some amateur MMA and Muay Thai provincials, got injured prior to this year's nationals...Some bjj tourneys as well but more for just fun; I prefer standing, I'm adept on the ground however I'd rather punch and kick than roll.

Combat sports are unlike any other team sport, I played hockey and rugby throughout highschool but lost all interest when I started training. Although there is still a huge team aspect; you cannot train properly or expect to do good in a live situation if you don't have a proper group of guys to train with...

Amen to that. without a good training team and training camp it's neigh on impossible to be successful.

Jiu jitsu and Muay Thai...trained in Mexico, California , Hawaii and in Atlanta. Focusing on jiu jitsu mostly

Growing up I trained several years in Shito-Ryu & Shotokan Karate, a little bit of judo. Perhaps it was the saturday morning classes that made me dislike karate.

Later in life I moved on to Capoeira and did that for nearly 5 years. That parlayed into learning gymnastics as an adult which was interesting.

Moved on to Muay Thai but I stopped a year ago to keep my brain nice and healthy. Trained some FMA (Filipino Martial Arts - Kali, escrima) but while some of the techniques are pretty cool, I didn't think the training was that effective.

Next I am going to try Russian Systema and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

agreed.

When I had stopped Karate i had started to severely miss and crave Sparring and I wasn't able to find any sport that really satisfied that, I wasn't sure why.

@sonnythebull: I'm not in Canada yet, so the clubs are in Australia. Ottways Taekwondo, Gracie Barra Jiu Jitsu and an Ludus House MMA

I have studied for years and consider myself a master Streetfighter

and have learned to use the hadouken properly and effectively. I also studied the art of how to use the Shoryuken, and Tatsumaki Senpuukyaku

whenever the need arises. real power is knowing when to use it, and when not to.
