Favorite "go-to" locations?

I guess I would consider myself as a "destination rider" I tend to enjoy getting out on the road but with at least some idea of where I'll end up.
I know my family likes to have an idea of where I'm going for safety's sake. I also find I plan my trip better, is it just my wallet and keys or should I bring some extra things for the longer trip kind of thing. Sometimes I just open up Google maps, pick a town and ride to it while other times I have a place to stop for food, fuel etc.

So with things hopefully on the up swing, what is your "go-to" location(s) for a destination ride?

Because i don't ride very much anymore,my locations are close to home.Hawksville is a very pleasant place to be.

A lot of people here made noise and hype about "The Forks", I went there based on the posts here and it SUCKED. For starters my driveway is probably longer than the entire strip. It starts at this ice cream place and ends on Highway 10. I had more fun getting there on the 401 highway than the actual cherry on the cake on the spot. My very 1st time I even told my GF to pack chips and cookies on her backpack at this ice cream place because I was going to cruise the "famous" Forks in its entirely. It was over after about 1 minute 35 seconds. I couldn't believe it, this is it?? This is all the hype in GTAmotorcycles?

The most fun places are near Orillia, Wasaga Beach is also a favorite of mine. Go to Peterborough and the town has more curves and hills than that famous "Forks". Blue Mountain is also a nice area. Anywhere in the Caldelon/Mono/Shelbourne/Angus area.

outside of that hairpin turn on the hill, the forks is mostly for scenery, especially in the fall. its short like pretty much every 'nice' road within or bordering the GTA. kinda like rosedale valley.

i have to say though, i was just there this weekend (hadnt been back there in maybe a few years) and all of those pylons all along the sides of the road make for an ugly ass trip.

I prefer to have a destination as well and try to plan new, interesting looking roads each ride I take...use these to help you plan your adventures:

What i'll sometimes do is find a highly rated restaurant - nothing fancy, e.g. BBQ - in a town more an than hour away and then do that.

If you don't like the "hype"that you find here in GTAM,i suggest you look into ADVRider.com. The inmates there will love to welcome you.
I already took a dream motorcycle ride through Central American jungles, villages and cities in 3 countries. The adventure many people can only dream of. I didn't take my own motorcycle, the logistics would had been too expensive, I just bought a disposable motorcycle over there. I posted the pics on this site many years ago. Went with my GF at the time. I have a thousand stories to talk about.

@Pegassus If the "forks" were someone's "got-to" location I would never ride with them again. That place is terrible now-a-days. I do try my best to avoid the "hot spots"

Cherohala Skyway is nice, TN and NC.

Blue Ridge Parkway is pretty awesome too.

I guess we should define "destinations" though.

What kinda distances are you looking for? Day trip ideas?

Some destinations.

Sightseeing at Devil's Punchbowl (via Ridge rd).
Lunch at Creemore (via 9 from 124).
Bailey's Ice Cream in Erin
Airplane watch at Pearson (Britannia and Convair)

I forgot to add - usually in the fall, i try to visit the Dorset lookout. It's really nice.

Also, if you're a hiker, you can ride to Algonquin, do a few hikes, and head home. It would make for a long day if you're in the city, but I enjoy the hikes they have set up (Track and Tower, and Centennial Ridges are my go-to's)

This is for us to have a conversation of what we enjoy, not a "please tell me where to go" thread.
So if it is the local Tim's or Alaska they are both cool.

Thanks for sharing :)

NICE?!?!? That is one absolutely ***EPIC*** piece of tarmac. It's my favourite road down there by far! The group I go with usually run it 3 or so times during our week long stay.

There's a lot more to "The Forks" than the road you rode. The entire area is full of spirited riding areas. From there, you continue on up 10 to Hockley Valley. Some great sweepers. From there you continue into Mansfield. Tight, technical riding. Then head south back towards the highway. It's a good tour locally. Your best bet is to ride with someone who knows the area and will guide you through it.

Nice, i was on my way there before my bike blew a couple of tension bearings. Had to abort.

(this was the start of my "time to sell my bike" thoughts)

The Police certainly seem to like it! Got nicked by a speed trap last month, wont be going there again.

Police are a problem anywhere and everywhere. The beauty of riding the Forks and surrounding areas is you can ride pace and really test your skills without speeding too much.

I like Northern and Eastern Ontario. With a couple of exceptions southwestern Ontario (anything east of the 400) bores me, all that goes thru my mind is ‘are we there yet?’

Add Snake Road to the list. At least the hairpin on FOTC requires the ability to make a sharp turn.

My milk runs start with getting 20 miles out of Toronto as quickly and safely as possible. Keep moving folks. There's nothing to see.
If I take the QEW to 403 to #6 north I head up to Old York Road. If you want to tick Snake Road off your list it's just a bit east. The better rides are west. Just pick some road and follow it.

Sydenham Road, Hwy 8, Rock Chapel, through Dundas and Ancaster, Pick any unstraight line.

Out to Mineral Springs, Sulfur Springs, through Hamilton on Scenic Drive, up and down a few of the cuts. Find your way to Ridge Road and follow it. Go down the escarpment on one road and back up on the next. Enjoy a sandwich at The Bench in Grimsby or a more artery clogging meal at The Memphis Fire a bit further west.

A lot depends on whether you want to get off the bike and see scenic stuff or just enjoy it through the visor.

The whole area is nice.
