Wondering if this is a common occurrence. At the lights
first thing this morning behind an suv. Visor up when suddenly
realize I'm getting a pulsating spray on my face, thankfully
I wear glasses or I think my eyes would have been burning
from the washer fluid. Also good I was at a red light
standing still.
When I got to work my friend just ha the same experience
except when it happened to him he was not at a light and he
doesnt't wear glasses.
Have to say does wake u up fast.

Give yourself more distance and you'll avoid this problem. Also you might live longer as a bonus

did you happen to notice the driver giggling his or her *** off?they know what they are doing.

I have found that most of the time they do this they do not realize it. Same as smokers flicking ash/cigarette out of the window. I very politely tell them that it is dangerous for us. So far everybody has said, "Sorry did not know this" They have always been polite. I do not look threatening or nasty to them.
Same when I see them texting/phonewave my finger (Not the middle finger) most times they smile and some even say "Sorry" I kill them with kindness.
Not every cager is an *******.

Not every cager is an a@#hole.

Try killing teens with kindness... At most, they'll say sorry to get you out of their face and laugh it off.

A bit of topic, but the otherday I was filling up my bike and this guy pulls in behind me, gets out and starts pumping gas all while being on this cell phone. All gas stations have a sign clearly stating "NO CELLPHONES". So i just say, "Hey bud, cell phone might not be a good idea while pumping gas" and point to the sign, the guy waves me off and looks the other way and continues pumping gas.

And when people get hurt they blame others...oh and that being polite doesn't always work lol

Agreed. Most don't know they are doing it.

I got sprayed last summer riding on hwy 7 during the day with my visor up but with the internal sunshield down. It catches you off guard that's for sure.

Sorry to say you will always come encounter complete morons. In defence of teenagers,(one of the posters here was talking about them) I was one once, most of them are pretty decent. Some of them even ride bikes, lol, and meet the "Old Fart" and they come across as idiots. Works both ways.

Yeah this guy at the gas station was a middle aged guy...
He was speaking in another language on the phone. Was probably telling the other person that I was harassing him lol

Apparently it's extremely difficult to ignite gas (even the fumes which are more flammable) so I wouldn't be too worried. Just thought I'd share since this thread is already off topic heh

Really? I guess you haven't seen the movie Zoolander and the famous cigarette flick scene!

People on the phone get a throttle blip so they look over. I flip the bird and give the "hang up the phone" signal.

A cell phone won't ignite the fumes. So I would have kept talking too. It's a fear from before the studies were done. I used to work with liquid propane. And lots of times we had a plume of vapor in the air with a running diesel truck right beside it and never had an issue. Once you understand how things ignite you won't freak out as much.

I've gotten sprayed a few times. Some of those sprays are powerful in modern cars! I can see a jet stream hit the windshield and then fan up and over the vehicle like a damn sprinkler.

No offence, but I would've done the same. There's a point at which I think people should mind their own business. I understand you thought it was a genuine hazard but it's really not remotely dangerous.

every time it happens I wonder if they're doing it intentionally and the urge to kill rises

FWIW that's proven to be a myth. You probably sounded like a self-righteous "follow the rules" a-hole to the guy (not saying you are).

I've got a cigarette butt down my jacket before, pulled up and pointed it out to the driver, he seemed genuinely sorry. Never gotten washer fluid to the face from behind, only on the side. That said I don't ever open my visor all the way, I just crack it.

This thread isn't what I was expecting from the title.

I have yet to be hit by fluid or cigarettes. But on a side note I was stung in the jugular by a wasp last week while riding (note: I'm aware being stung anywhere else on the neck would've been the same. I said it for dramatic effect lol). It hurt like a b*tch though.
