Good thing I do all my really nasty porn surfing in Chrome in privacy mode and the Facebook creeping I do is, well, on Facebook so I already assumed that could be tracked. Anything else, doesn't really matter if Facebook knows. lol

Personally, I find the fact that any message or anything you ever send on Facebook is never deleted, even if you delete it, and their employees have open access to everyone's accounts and regularly browse people's hidden/private stuff just for fun to be worse. Or so some article I read said. No idea how true it is but wouldn't surprise me.

Wall posts are public anyway. Don't post a public comment on a public post and then you won't have to worry about everyone on Facebook seeing your public post. If it's private, use the messaging service. I don't see why there is an article about this privacy "problem" on something that is designed to be public in the first place.

my wall posts are not public, only friends can see them (and sometimes not all friends).

I guess you're right that you can adjust who sees them. I've always just treated them as public anyway though. Did you even have those privacy options when Facebook first came out? Maybe that's why I never bothered to make the distinction.

dunno, but i've always set my settings to the max.

Yeah, I guess those things would be an issue for someone like you. I've just always considered almost everything on Facebook to be public so I don't really even bother with the privacy settings and just watch what I post on there.

even with the privacy settings i watch what i post on there, but besides that them spying on what i surf on other sites is uncool

Agreed! Private messages should be private but everything else? Meh, it's facebook. YOu're posting it in a public domain. Post accordingly. Good thing I generally don't give a crap who sees what or what they think...

All that I have posted on facebook is just general pics. I refrain from posting pics of myself there, only generic ones.

I don't broadcast myself on FB

Marketers have been tracking shopping, surfing, and purchasing habits of individuals for years, this is nothing new.
If you're concerned, stay off social media. Hard as it is to imagine, generations before us survived quite nicely with nothing more than a telephone (which was probably monitored as well).

^^ Nice...
It seems that everything we do has only one expression. That explains alot of these kids these days

The only difference is the guy moves his desk to the right for news, music, and jerkin it.

The funny thing is, most people voluntarily post much more private stuff in their status update.

so Facebook now knows that SCAT is my favorite genre
