F4i Wont Start

Have a 2001 Honda CBR f4i that wont start.

Looking for advice.

Has 38,000km on it. And has always started on the first try

Run down of what happened:

Winterized with fuel stabilizer and by starting the bike and letting it run throughout the winter.

Pulled it out for the first time this year, changed my oil and oil filter, has new spark plugs and fresh coolant last season.

I took it around the block then back home and stopped the engine for 5 minutes. Then took it back out for 15 mins, stopped for some food (30mins) and went back out to go home and my bike wouldnt start.

Tried boosting it, topping up the oil, looked a little low.
Put my battery tender on it over night, still nothing.

Now that it is in my garage it i can hear things properly and when I turn on my kill switch it does not sound like my fuel injectors are injecting...not to sure were to start on troubleshooting, whether its the battery or the fuel injectors or the fuel pump...

If you have advice please let me know, or if you know of a mobile mechanic in the GTA could you please give me their number

THANKS

Does it make a weird buzzing/clicking sound (or did it at first, until it totally died)? If it did/does, it's the charge. Either something's loose and you're not getting the charge or the battery wasn't fully charged to start with. Two seasons ago and again this year mine did that and both times it ran fine to start with but once I turned it off, it wouldn't re-start. Checked everything over, re-charged the battery and it was fine after.

Was the battery maintained over the winter? Starting it "now and then" over the storage period is the worst thing you can do to the bike. The battery may be sulfated and not able to hold a full charge. Can you take the battery out and have it load tested?

matthew - Lights come on, dont know the voltage

sundancekid - I did try to jump start it the day, or should i say night, it happened, no luck

Nyx13 - I didnt notice any weird buzzing noise, but i dont hear the injectors pump after turning on the kill switch

Wingboy - I know, it was dumb and i got lazy this winter, but figured it was fine since it was starting every time i started it and i let it run for a good 15 mins. I have left it charging all day now, will do a load test as soon as i can find it

Does it crank at all? Do the lights dim when you're trying to start the bike? It could be the battery doesn't have enough charge. Trickle chargers and tenders generally don't charge even if you leave them in for a long period of time. Hook it up to a car battery charger for 24 hours and try it then. Worked on a cbr125 battery that 'died' after being in a tender for over a month. Also try bump starting the bike to make sure its nothing else that is the problem. IF there's some bad fuel in there hold revs at 4-5k to get it out of the lines maybe.

Fuel pump, fuel pump relay, nuetral switch, side stand switch

Kind of lost this post and continued in a new one here:

Going to bump this up with updates. I have been slow on figuring this out as I started a new job and really havent been home to get as many hours in to figure it out.

chrias - Dont know what that is bboySushi - It does turn over. Not pressurizing the fuel or getting any spark. Jumped the fuel pump over the computer straight to the battery and it pressurizes. Leading me to believe it is more likely the computer.

JohnnyP636 - Bought from Honda Power sports...not 100% sure but one are one of the 2 from the manual

kneedragger88 - fuel pump does work, neutral switch; bike does start out of neutral if clutch is pulled in. Side stand switch; didnt check, but checked the bank angle.

I really want to rule out or in the computer, but every shop i call wont just take in my computer and swap it on a bike in the shop as see if that bike works with my computer. Everyone wants to take it in and do a few hours of troubleshooting...all of **** i either have done or a mechanic has come to do and all have pointed to the computer. Dont have the money to 1. transport it, 2. pay for the shop hours to figure out the problem then 3. play for the part that needs replacing. Trying to skip 1 and 2.

Would love if someone who has an f4i would be willing to do a quick swap and see if my computer is defective. I am willing to pay for someones time

Found the problem. The issue was with ignition and the wire that feeds to the computer. There are four wires that come from the ignition and go to various places. Like the lights and the computer. I had previously tested all four connections and was getting 12 volts from each. Jumped them and moved on to find another possible issue. Today found out that the pink wire (the one that goes to the ecu) is only supposed to get 9 volts. So there is a limited in the ignition cluster that blew.Tested to make sure this was the issue, but not going to explain how cause it's pretty much bow you hot wire a bike. Sure enough, it fired up and so did my heart. Big thanks to hondahhh for allowing me to test some parts on his bike and for being so determined and willing to help out. I owe you many beers and a lunch, we will ride as soon as I fix this part.

Anytime!

Damn that fuel pump sounded good

i've resolved the same issue....if your bike has no spark, 9/10 times this would be an place to look. e
