I just bought a 1974 CB 550. Im planning on riding next season or 2015 depending on the price of insurance. I'll probably get my M by then. Ill be restoring her iduring the down time, which is good.

I received my M2 In Aug 15.
23 years old
Full G (nov 2011) and will be my 6th year this november since obtaining my license.
2 Minors (2012)
- Broken Headlight
- Did not have license on hand (was in the other car)
Had 1 year of full insurance (stopped when I moved out)

I called a couple insurances so far and one actually gave me a quote. The other said I should wait for my uncle's friend to come back from vacation and get a quote from him instead

Jevco
Insure now - $5500
Next year - $2250

Statefarm

I will update this list as time goes by.

What i don't understand is how having insurance next year will make me a ''better rider''. I'll be even more rustier next year if this is the case.

They "assume" that having your license for a year means you have more experience on a bike.

I waited a year before I got to ride due to insurance.

Statefarm
Statefarm will be worst $168/mo and best $125/mo. They don't care if you just got your M1 today, same price as a guy with his full M for 4 years!

Give my girl Katherine a call (866) 930-1221, tell her Crazy Jamie sent ya. She can get ya signed up right over the phone, even e-mail you your pink slips!

your rate will drop like a stone when you turn 25. I was quoted $160/mo now (currently 24), and when I'm 25, $75/mo.

I guess it's better to restore the bike over 2 years.
and use the extra money to get my gear ^^

This is somewhat encouraging for me. I got my m1 in April, currently, m2, insured since May.

22years old,
Virago 250,

$1600 a year insurance (131 a month or something), went with a 250 strictly for insurance reasons.

I was hoping to move up in the spring to a bigger bike, something like a virago 750/1100, vstar 650, or Shadow 750, but insurance is my only concern. How much have folks about my age been paying on those kinds of bikes after having their licenses for a year?

I'm thinking If I can keep the insurance about $2000 a year, maybe a couple hundred over, I'd move up some. Am I dreaming?

I got a quote fom SF. 23 YO 2 tickets. 1.8k with my 74 cb550
m1 early june. M2 mid august. Quite was done late august

That for this year or next? Are you bundling it or something? I recall them quoting me almost $3000 a year on even a vulcan 500 this year.

It is for this year. Quote valid for the next 30 days. This is a stand alone - No house or car. I tried insuring my car with them come renewal but the guy said its best i dont until i clear my tickets and be over 25. The advisor said id pay 3-4x what im paying now if i were to switch my car. All in all, ill be going with sf becausethey're cheaper. Td wont quote me due to the age of the bike. I believe they have a 15 year cut off.
