I have not heard either exhaust on a M50 but I have heard lots of V&H and HK's on other bikes.
The Vance and Hines are quieter and are usually a little higher pitched then other aftermarket exhausts right out of the box.
Hard Kromes are generally deeper sounding and much louder then the V&H or Cobra's.
The V&H's generally have removable baffles allowing you to either removed them, or install other ones to "tune" the exhaust to a volume and to a degree tone of your liking. The HK's are welded in place. You can add aftermarket baffles to the HK's but it's not quite as easy. The HK have a lifetime warranty against discolouration, and I believe the V&H's do as well but im not sure. If this is your only mod both systems will perform the same, So I would say pick the set you find most appealing in terms of sound and looks.. and price .
