Exhaust Advice

Hey guys, just starting out here and wondering if anyone could give an unbiased opinion. I'm looking to replace the exhaust on my 03 R6. I purchased the bike a month ago and it had a mid mount slip on (can't remember the make for the life of me right now). I was looking for a shorty preferably with something that is obnoxiously loud. i wouldn't mind something high pitched in terms of tone either...

what are your thoughts?

Just cut your current pipe down to 1/2 its current size or even 1/3 since you do not care how loud it is.

My thoughts are:
Buy a nice pipe that sounds good, doesn't resonate and rattle, is built well and is considerably lighter than your stocker.............you are doing a disservice to the rest of the motorcycling community by installing an "obnoxiously loud" pipe. The simple fact that you used the word "obnoxiously" makes it obvious that you are aware of this fact.

You asked.....

Unsure if original post is a troll. Might want to check into the current noise enforcement situation in Caledon, Oakville, Fredericton, Windsor, Calgary, Edmonton, and the list is growing.

okay, maybe obnoxious was the wrong choice of words, but i just want something where you can still hear me from a block or two away... any suggestions?

Although I'm sure this has been discussed before on this site, loud 'obnoxious' pipes are the single biggest thing that pisses the general public off about bikes. And it means that we're becoming unwelcome at more and more places.

And none of this 'loud pipes save lives' crap. Proper gear and riding skills are your best defense.
Think about it.

lol OP asked for a loud pipe and everyone's ripping on him and worried what the public thinks of bikers.

2 Bros, Jardine, Devil are some of the louder pipes.

D&D is very loud but sounds like sh*t

+1 for the 2 bros. Just don't take it into any place that has a noise restriction bylaw.

Check out R6 forum. There are a few shorty exhausts that'll fit on your bike without any modifications:

Competition Werks: http://www.competitionwerkes.com/products/Yamaha/2003/R6/gp-slip-on-exhaust-9
Not very loud if you get the baffle for it: http://www.competitionwerkes.com/products/Yamaha/2003/R6/yamaha-r6-r6s-exhaust-insert

Retarded f'ing loud, and sounds like crap: http://www.hardrockmotorsports.com/hr1_web/HR1_web_YAMAHA_R6_RIOT.html

Other than that, you can modify just about any slip-on to fit.
