Excited to ride for the first tme!!!

Hi all,

This is my first post on this site, but have been here for a few months reading, learning, and educating myself. I have to say thanks for everyone's contributions to this site.. it has been amazing. There is a wealth of information here, and everybody seems so helpful.

I attended my first motorcycle show this past week, at the motorcycle supershow in Mississauga. I enjoyed my time there, and tried many bikes for comfort. Prior to the show, I had narrowed down my first bike purchase to the 2012 Suzuki Gladius 650. I was not comfortable on a sport bike. Just not my preferred choice for many reasons. I was also looking at the new Honda with storage space where the gas tank is normally, but I ended up going with the Gladius. I purchased the bike through the show with Newmarket Suzuki. I then came home to read up on their dealership, and was surprised at the bad comments about the dealership, and their service. I have to say, I had no surprises when the bill of sale came. It was everything that was expected, and I had a very good experience with my purchase through them. I still have to go through the PDI process, so I will let everyone know my experience once I actually have the bike. I guess there are always a few bad apples that try to tarnish the whole bunch. I live in Richmond Hill, so I will take my bike to Yonge and 407 Suzuki for service. That might help.

Looking forward to sharing more stories, and anxious to start learning. I will be taking the M1 to M2 course through Learning Curves in April. I hope to hook up with fellow riders from this site to cruise the roads of Ontario!!

Thanks again everybody for the help in narrowing down my decision for my first bike purchase!!

Welcome to the world of Motorcycles.
Enjoy your time and ask as many questions as you can :) LOTS of knowledge here.

Wait till you get on a bike and get on the road for the very first time. Amazing thrill!

Congrats and hope it works out for you since I've read more bad reviews than good with SON. Have fun and ride safe :D

Welcome to the forum. Very good choice for a bike. I rode a SV650S and loved it.
As for reviews, take them with a grain of salt, typically you only hear one side of a story and that side can be emotionally driven. Not calling anyone a liar but it is always best to make your own judgement. Every transaction is different so that leaves a lot of room for change and/or improvement of the dealership etc. Enjoy your bike and the forum.

Welcome!!

Welcome and awesome bike! As for the Suzuki dealer, you lucked out on your sale- they offer great prices but some of the salesman are shady. Not uncommon to see a salesman trying to sell a first time rider a GSXR 1000 in there.

Buying a brand new bike *before* even having your m1.. hmm i would have at least waited until after i took the course and actually rode some bikes to see what i felt comfortable on. You may end up finding you like a different style of bike all together after you have actually ridden. Also, what if you fail? that would be an expensive toy to have just sitting around. Not to be a nay sayer just that i would have waited to make a purchase until after i had my m2, then bought something used to ride for my first season, as you will most likely grind gears, possibly drop the bike etc. like many new riders do. I would have felt like i was jinxing myself if i went out and bought a new bike before i got my license lol

Bagel, I knew what I wanted, and how much I wanted to spend before dealing with the dealership. So all it really came down to was paperwork. It was an easy transaction, with no surprises.

Johnny5, thanks for the vote of confidence... are you always so positive. ;) lol
