Starting a new (hopefully fun) thread here for those daily little strange events that we may all have happen to us.

Here is mine.

Washed my thermos on Monday with Palmolive apple dish soap. I usually wash it one a week then just keep it rinsed out. it is now Wednesday and although I have rinsed my thermos numerous times with close to boiling water, my coffee still smells and tastes of friggen apple !?!

This has to be worlds most powerfull soap, for the record my thermos is not pourous...

Feel free to post your own experiences. I just found it funny when i open my thermos and get a whiff of apples instead of coffee and this is 2 days after using this stuff. I tell ya it is some powerful sh1t..

I love these types of threads. Hope to contribute soon. And ya, hey, how about them apples, huh?

I have has cut up melons in my lunch that tasted like perfume smells, from dishsoap in my tupperware. I have had coffee from my 100% stainless steel thermos that still tasted like floral scent dishsoap. It was awful.

My camelbak tasted like plastic when I got it. Awful. Couldn't even drink gatorade out of it. I washed it with dish soap. The plastic taste was still there and it tasted like dish soap too. I cleaned it with baking powder in the end. I just let it sit for a week with a lot baking powder and water in it.

I use the No Name brand dish soap. If I don't rinse thoroughly it'll leave a funny taste. Can't name it tho.

I had some aging bananas on top of a bag of bread. My sandwiches had the faint taste of banana to them until that loaf of bread was gone. Not awesome.

Hot camelbaks never loose that rubber/plastic taste.
Took a few weeks for mine to lose that taste in normal temperatures.

I don't use it anymore. I use source bladders. They are 100% taste free. Supposedly the new camelbaks are better.
