Judgy-Pants: Entitled Driving All Over the Sidewalk Edition
Ever felt the need to charge straight towards pedestrians because you just can't wait for traffic?

Yawn. If someone creeping along a sleepy downtown street sidewalk to get around a garbage truck was the worst driving offence I saw in a day, I might get excited about this.
Maybe after spending $90K on an AWD SUV to use in the city, he just craved a little off road adventure?
What that clown did was dangerous. What if a child had been crossing in front of the stopped garbage truck?Yawn. If someone creeping along a sleepy downtown street sidewalk to get around a garbage truck was the worst driving offence I saw in a day, I might get excited about this.

I hope TPS does look into it, but chances are they won't. There was a recent Star article (don't have link right now) which stated TPS hasn't been chasing after speeders etc as much as they used to, their numbers are way down from 2012.I hope the TPS are looking into this. People get stunt driving charges worth thousands of dollars of fines for doing much less dangerous things.
This province is so messed up.
The sidewalk is considered part of the roadway under the HTA, there is no direct offence driving a car along a sidewalk. The only think the police could do is drop something like 'careless' on the driver -- that wouldn't stick but it would cost the driver a lot of time and some cash to fight.I hope TPS does look into it, but chances are they won't. There is something like "driving off the marked roadway" or potentially failure to yield, failure to signal lane change. I think they should stick him with at least careless or dangerous. Publish his name and face and the charge he got. He may beat it in court, but people will remember him.The sidewalk is considered part of the roadway under the HTA, there is no direct offence driving a car along a sidewalk. The only offence is a bylaw infraction -- Its probably a $25 fine.
