Entitled Driving All Over the Sidewalk

There are a least two threads that this idiot could be in. For some dangerous and blatant driving infractions like this, I wish they could lien the car and keep it upon conviction. Bonus points if it's a lease. Make the $^#%@^ write a cheque to buy out a vehicle he doesnt have.

Yawn. If someone creeping along a sleepy downtown street sidewalk to get around a garbage truck was the worst driving offence I saw in a day, I might get excited about this.

Maybe after spending $90K on an AWD SUV to use in the city, he just craved a little off road adventure?

Its the 'almost taking out a couple of pedestrians' part that's not cool. Maybe he was in a hurry to p/u some blinker fluid at CTC ?

Wonder if TPS will actually do anything about this. Plate is clearly visible at the start of the video, and when he passes the person taking video...I hope so. **** that person.

What that clown did was dangerous. What if a child had been crossing in front of the stopped garbage truck?

That driver feels like he is so entitled, that his time is more important than everyone elses.

I hope the TPS are looking into this. People get stunt driving charges worth thousands of dollars of fines for doing much less dangerous things.
This province is so messed up.

That driver needs to have there license suspended or taken away, and have them do some community service as a crossing guard in the area. There is no reason for it and just promotes bad driving, giving others an excuse to do the same, not ok.

I hope TPS does look into it, but chances are they won't. There was a recent Star article (don't have link right now) which stated TPS hasn't been chasing after speeders etc as much as they used to, their numbers are way down from 2012.

I used to live near here.
The two fences, lampost and curbs never used to be on this walkway.
One time my wife had to back the baby stroller out, because the car couldn't or wouldn't reverse out.
Another time an entire Austin Mini rally had this walkway as it's route.
Finally, a pickup truck took out 30 feet of fence, and the city finally did something about it,
although before I left there were still occasions where someone felt that tearing the side out of their vehicle was worth the time savings.

The sidewalk is considered part of the roadway under the HTA, there is no direct offence driving a car along a sidewalk. The only think the police could do is drop something like 'careless' on the driver -- that wouldn't stick but it would cost the driver a lot of time and some cash to fight.

The only offence is a bylaw infraction -- Its probably a $25 fine.

There is something like "driving off the marked roadway" or potentially failure to yield, failure to signal lane change. I think they should stick him with at least careless or dangerous. Publish his name and face and the charge he got. He may beat it in court, but people will remember him.

It could be worse. A woman in the US regularly did the same thing but passed a handicap school bus. It was videoed and police set up a trap. The woman's mother came to her defence saying it was a handicap bus. It wasn't like they were going to dash out in front of her. Like mother like daughter.
