Looking for a machine shop that could mill out the axle hole in a fork bottom from 15mm to 17mm.

My brother is doing a XS650 Street Tracker COVID build - not really my cup of tea, but whatever.

The XS had 17mm axles but one of the fork bottoms has a big ding in it and the fork tube will not slide to the bottom properly. I have a set forks from another XS model at my inlaws that has exactly the same fork bottoms but the bike that they came off only had a 15mm axle.

The axle hole in my fork bottom would need to be centred in a mill and reamed out from 15 to 17 mm. Its not a huge amount of work but does needs to be accurate.

Both Yamaha and Suzuki seemed to do this quite a lot back in the day and used the same fork bottoms with different size axles depending on the model and the wheel.

Thanks

Precision Cycle Works on Simcoe St South In Oshawa.
They have a machine shop and they are pretty good.

Thanks all. I'll pass this on to him

Jim. I'll also give him your contact information. He is just north of Pickering so its a nice drive, especially at this time of year

Just a quick update on this one:

I needed a two-piece sleeve machined to accommodate a swingarm swap from an RC51 SP-1 to SP-2. I contacted Precision Cycle Works, and they basically said that they're too busy machining things like cylinder heads to be able to tackle a simpler (and cheaper) job in any sort of reasonable time. They put me onto a small shop in Whitby called Quadra Machining.

The guys name is Terry, and he was able to sort me out with exactly what I needed in a couple days for a very fair price. If you need anything done that's small and one-off, he'd be a good guy to call. Here's his website:
