Engine Oil and Oil Filter Recommendation?

Hello Riders,

Ride - 2018 Suzuki GSX-S750ZL8 (No digital Service/Repair Manual Available online)

So I have decided to carry on the servicing on my own. It's just Engine Oil and Oil Filter replacement and other Nut and bolts Inspection. My question is what Engine oil and Oil filter should I be getting. I am guessing Castrol GTX SAE 10W40 and K&N KN-138 will do just fine but I wanted to get more recommendation from more experienced people here.

I'd go OEM filter, but aftermarket is OK. Be wary of the ones with the welded nut on the end(typically K&N), there was a big thing about leaks from the weld area.

As long as the oil is not energy conserving and the filter fits, yer good. Lots use Shell Rotella diesel oil, I have for a long time.
 
Oil filter will be the same as for a GSXR. They haven't had fundamental design changes for years.

Don't guess, find out what spec your motorcycle requires, then all you have to do is make sure the oil you use has that spec displayed on the package.
SAE 10W40 is the oil viscosity not the spec.
 
that sounds like car oil
oil needs to be JASO-MA compatible for the wet clutch in your bike
 
... small point of order, diesel oil is what I burn in my truck as fuel, Rotella (which spell check apparently hates) is a diesel spec engine oil.
 
Napa 1359 filter and Rotella T6 oil went in all 6 of the GSXR's I had.

OP needs:
M20x1.0 threads, 11 psi by-pass valve, anti-drain back valve. So, a PH6018 or PH7016 equivalent?

or get an adapter to run the more common #5 filters on the list

I use a longer than stock one in my bikes, more filter area.

Thanks for the link KN138 is in the list, but I have to worry about the Engine oil now. Seems like GTX SAE 10W40 API Service SN won't work.
 
Go to a motorcycle dealer. You will find a selection of 10w40 motor oils that meet JASO MA2, which is what your wet-clutch-equipped engine will require. Any of them will work fine.

Castrol GTX is formulated for automotive engines.
